I was reading up on a new technology combining different LLM models from the vast ocean of open-source models; Hugging Face has over 500k models with diverse capabilities. What I found remarkable is this sentence: 🤓 As researchers (from Sakana AI), we are surprised that our method is able to automatically produce new foundation models without the need for any gradient-based training, thus requiring relatively little compute resources. And: 🤗 Surprisingly, we find that both models achieve state-of-the-art results on several LLM and Vision benchmarks, while not being explicitly optimized to be good at these benchmarks! 🤖 Again, LLMs provide surprisingly good results without the researchers or developers understanding why or how. 🕵♀️ We are barely scratching the surface of AI's potential, with researchers unable to predict the outcome of their efforts to create new LLMs. Have we ever witnessed an industry where researchers continue to be amazed about the outcomes of their work? #ai #LLM #opensource #AImodels
