So far, October has been a great month but hectic too! here’s a flashback on the activities I coordinated or supported : * Konrad Adenauer - Salma Dialogue on South South Cooperation and gender equality 🇲🇦 *APRM - UN DESA workshop on strengthing national institutions and follow up on #sustainabledevelopment Summit 2023, Cape Town 🇿🇦 * APRM- OECD workshop on PCSD OECD in South Africa for national civil servants 🇿🇦 * Launch of the APRM continental report on SDGs and Agenda 2063 governance Mechanisms with a special focus on #sdg16 * Multi-Stakeholder consultation Forum for civil service reforms in 🇸🇱 which covers different topics including professionalism in civil service, #Principles of effective governance for sustainable development (CEPA principles ) and its implementation in Sl, #digitalization; #Partnerships and the role of #nationalschoolsofGov in Africa to foster peer learning amongst African civil servants. South Africa's climate governance improvement requires bridging the gap between policy goals and implementation and integrating social aspects like gender equality and youth involvement. As a result, the Youth Climate Champions (YCC) under the Climate Ambition to Accountability Project (CAAP) a collaboration between the WWF South Africa, Climate Action Network South Africa (SACAN), and the Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ), hosted an intergenerational dialogue in partnership with the Presidential Climate Commission (PCC). The event's theme was "Bridging Generations: Fostering Future-Ready Youth for a Just Transition" aimed to foster intergenerational dialogue, focusing on youth's role in driving transformative change and equipping them with the necessary skills and resources for a future that prioritises environmental integrity, social justice, and economic resilience

🎉 It’s been one year since our 2023 Learning, Training and Practice Special Session at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF). 🤝The event was co-organized with with the Women's Major Group, Mediators Beyond Borders International, Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, and focused on SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). ℹ️In the session, we provided strategic insights and practical knowledge to participants on finding sustainable solutions for their communities. We discussed methodologies to enhance collaboration to achieve Agenda 2030. ➡️ Our contribution: The Gender-Migration Index (GMI) ❓What is the GMI? The GMI is a policy guidance tool that centers lived experiences of women, girl, LGBTQIA , and gender diverse migrants by strengthening civil society engagement in international review processes, such as the HLPF. ❓How does the GMI work? The Index is based on an indicator system that ensures gender-responsiveness and migrant-inclusion in benchmarking policy, particularly in regards to monitoring and evaluation. ❓Who can use the GMI? The GMI follows a multi-stakeholder approach and promotes dialogue and information-sharing by facilitating feedback and consultation mechanisms. Feminist foreign policy as a vector for sustainable development goals and human rights 🍀 💛   The final panel of the day at #FFP as part of #EUGenderEqualityWeek brought reflections on gender dynamics in diplomacy and multilateralism. Based on ecofeminist thinking and considerations of migration policy, the guests discussed the challenges and opportunities of women in multilateralism, the necessity of including gender equality issues in all political efforts to advance the goals of sustainable development and human rights. This session thus critically took stock of the progress made so far and the needs and expectations of the EU’s 🇪🇺 partner countries to live up to gender, climate and migrant justice in line with a truly intersectional feminist foreign policy approach. Last week, I was on the ground in Grenada representing SAEDI Consulting as one of the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) experts on the team, as we carry out a 12-country assessment of road and transport sector climate resilience in the Caribbean. In each country, we visit 'hotspots' identified by local ministerial and civil society stakeholders, and conduct workshops to gather information on policy, operations, capacity and communication systems. Road transport networks are often one of the most critical infrastructural systems impacted by climate events; this is of particular concern in the Caribbean where coastal erosion, and both coastal and inland flooding can severely impact safety, health, and quality of life for many. Considering the intersecting needs of those who are especially vulnerable, whether due to gender, socio-economic status, geographic location or livelihood is nuanced and critical work.
