Driving an electric truck from Södertälje to Milan⚡️ Update #6 🚛🔋   We made it 🤩🚛⚡ With a whole 93 km range left thanks to regeneration (we had 114 km left and started with 170 km range)! Our BEV, what a machine 😂   We arrived at the Scania workshop in Milan around 4pm yesterday afternoon with a mixed feeling of both pride and relief (because this trip truly has been tough) but also a little bit of sadness about the long journey being over...   Here are some of our reflections from the trip:   First and foremost for Amanda and myself, who have never driven trucks like this before, we have newfound, deep respect for truck drivers, i.e. the users of our products. Driving a long haul truck feels like trying to beat the clock and losing a lot of the time because of things completely out of your control, such as accidents, roadwork, queues etc. simply because during long haul trips unexpected things happen (and in our trip we didn't have at all as tight of a time schedule as professional drivers would have).   The biggest challenge in electrifying trans European haulage is definitely the lack of public charging infrastructure adapted for trucks. There is more charging infrastructure available than we expected but mainly for cars. Since we couldn't trust the charging infrastructure (feeling secure in where we could access charging next time) we lost a lot of daytime stopping to top-up charge. We could manage this as we're not professional drivers transporting any goods but otherwise this, in combination with keeping the driving and resting times and also the delivery times would be tough.
