Did you know that food insecurity rates for families with children spike during the summer? While about 10.5% of U.S. households were food insecure in 2021, this rate rises significantly when school is out. Hunger doesn’t take a summer break, even in Colorado. In Denver, over 200,000 people – that's 33% of the population – are currently experiencing food insecurity. Nearly 12% of Denver County residents, including children, seniors, families, and veterans, live below the poverty line. Your support can make a difference. Let's come together to combat food insecurity this summer. https://bit.ly/3RMTNYY #HungerDoesntTakeAVacation #EndFoodInsecurity #VOAColorado #Donate

As we reflect on our 4 years of operations, we acknowledge that our community has faced monumental challenges—from a global pandemic that increased the gap of poverty, to environmental disasters - leaving our families in constant uncertainty and with ongoing concerns for their well-being. 💔 For a family living in poverty....a daily worry is whether or not they will have enough food to eat. These hardships are often leading reasons that force families to withdraw children from school and send them to work. At REACH, our team has stood by our community, offering emergency food assistance through various emergency relief initiatives, ensuring families stay together and children remain in school. 🍚 During monsoonal floods, our dedicated social workers have delivered emergency food support directly to the doorsteps of our families' homes, ensuring that no one is left behind during these trying times. Furthermore, if a family is identified as extremely vulnerable, they are nominated to receive additional food relief from our kitchen on a daily basis. 🤲 We firmly believe that only when a family's basic needs are met can education truly become a priority. 💙 By donating to our Double Your REACH initiative, you can make a difference in our community and help more children stay in school. 🦸 Throughout June, every donation is doubled by our Match Grant Heroes! Click the link below and let's break the cycle of poverty, one meal at a time. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gxffPUYR . . . #MatchGrantHeroes #REACHsiemreap #nourishtoflourish #onemealatatime #foodforall #humanrights #foodandeducation #educationforall #educationforallchildren #nutritiousmeals

Let your voice be heard! Help us end hygiene and period poverty in Colorado! Donations for Dignity is committed to tackling a hidden crisis in our communities. To date, we’ve donated nearly 3.2M organic period products, 82K eco-friendly diapers and wipes, and 190K basic hygiene essentials. And we're not stopping. Why? Because hygiene poverty has severe consequences, leading to worsened chronic illnesses, barriers to employment, degraded self-worth, inconsistent school attendance, and health problems. It perpetuates cycles of poverty, trapping our neighbors in difficult circumstances. But together, we can create systemic change and make a real difference in our neighbors' lives. We have the tools, creativity, and willpower to bring about meaningful improvements. Count on us, count on you! Let's join forces and create partnerships that change lives. Together, we can ensure that no one in Colorado has to endure hygiene and period poverty. #donationsfordignity #endhygienepoverty #endperiodpoverty #togetherforchange #coloradostrong

Text MOH24 to 76278 What is this and why should you care? Today was the annual Menu of Hope fundraiser luncheon, and this is how you can donate. ...okay, what is Menu of Hope and why should you care? https://lnkd.in/guc_44Cu Menu of Hope is hosted by Children's Hunger Alliance, a statewide nonprofit; an organization that has been dedicated to a war on food insecurity in Ohio since the 1970s. Their mission is to ensure that children without access receive healthy food, nutrition education and physical activity. I don't fault you if you don't walk through life thinking about how many kids in our own backyards go day by day, unsure of where their next meal comes from. I hadn't thought of it in a long time myself; that is until I had the privilege and honor of working with Children's Hunger Alliance. Now it's one of those things that keeps me awake at night, and it's what drives me every day to do as best of a job as I can to provide them with an application solution that can scale with their ambitions. But to be clear, it's 1 in 5 kids. 1 in 5 children in Ohio don't know whether or not they are going to go to bed hungry. Children's Hunger Alliance serves thousands of Ohioan children in an effort to combat hunger annually. But as I said, they are a nonprofit, and they rely on our help, the Ohioan community, to continue this battle. So if you have a couple spare bucks to give today, you can text that number at the top of my post. I believe it's open until the end of the day. If you want to give later on, or you want to keep it in the back of your mind, bookmark this link. https://lnkd.in/gQgjAYii I have the privilege of getting a glimpse into their operations, and I know that every dollar given is a dollar that truly counts. You may not know me, and I might not know you; but many of those who are going to see this post live in Ohio; so give some thought about taking care of our kids. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.

As we move into the summer months and the temperatures rise, so does the struggle for many families facing poverty or homelessness. ☀️💛Summer months often bring an increase in hunger, exacerbated by fewer meals with school being out and a decrease in donations. On May 11th to help Stamp Out Hunger, the South Bay Outreach Center launches a charity flower mart for its homeless prevention services in LA. For the 4th year in a row hunger rises worldwide. To help prevent homelessness, the South Bay Outreach Center (SBOC) has been serving the community through its free food pantry and other social services for 40 years. This month, on May 11, National Stamp Out Hunger Day, the SouthBay Outreach Center will launch a flower mart to raise funds to support the nonprofit's mission at the Bay Club of Redondo Beach. Organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger is the largest single-day food drive in the USA, helping over 45 million Americans facing food insecurity annually. Each week, the SBOC provides fresh groceries for 400 individuals, families and seniors who are homebound. According to the latest Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC), nearly 282 million people worldwide are starving. This is the fourth year in row of a rise in food insecurity, especially among children and women who are suffering the most from hunger. To get involved, all people need to do is fill a bag with canned and other non-perishable food. Their letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to a local food bank and the South Bay Outreach Center. Learn more @Hoy-southbay.org

The end of the financial year is looming for many businesses as we approach March/April. If you work for a business who supports a charity annually, now is the time where you might be thinking about your next charity partner for 2024-2025. Last year we had some amazing businesses raise incredible sums of money for CPAG. Thank you to all of them. Did you know 👇🏻 In the UK, there are 4.2 million children growing up in poverty. That is around 29% of the UK's children. Children are going without the very basics which most of us take for granted like a warm coat, a fully belly ahead of a day of learning or affordable school uniform. This is not right. Child Poverty Action Group UK was established in 1965 with the aim of eradicating and preventing child poverty for good. We provide welfare rights advice and training, so struggling families get vital financial support they need to stay afloat. We also work with children and families who have experienced poverty, so their voices are heard by leaders in government through our youth panel. Systemic change is necessary, but this will only happen if we continue to get the shocking facts and figures of child poverty in front of the UK's leaders. We couldn't continue our vital work pulling children out of poverty without the generous support of all of current/previous corporate partners. So, businesses. Will you consider joining us in the fight against child poverty? #Charity #CorporatePartnerships #Poverty #ChildPoverty #PovertyEradication

Update on the launch of the Hunger and Homeless Coalition of Collier County and Lee County Homeless Coalition, Inc. Getting Ahead program. Thank you so much to everyone that kindly reached out to offer space or suggestions! Locations and meals have been secured for the two groups in Naples and Ft Myers. We are so excited that we are now accepting participant applications for both groups! What we are still asking for your help with is providing the participants with generic gift cards to help support them while they are taking the steps to building self-sufficiency. For more information or to donate, please contact our Lead Case Manager, Aubrey, at [email protected] So what is Getting Ahead? "Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin'-By World" is a 16 session workshop series providing tools and support to individuals motivated to get out of poverty. Working in a group-learning environment, participants will investigate their experience of poverty, as well as the impact within the community, providing critical information to take action to end poverty. Participants will also learn that money is only one of 11 resources used to define poverty. Learn how these resources affect their life and the lives of family. By examining the resources they have versus the resources they need, they will be able to formulate a personal plan, based on goals, to get out of poverty.

Why? Because every day, there are children who go hungry and do not have enough food to eat. More than 164,680 children in VA are facing hunger. That's over 8.8% of children are facing food insecurity. Every day, families join the ranks of the working poor; these are individuals who can’t make ends meet or who find themselves forced to make difficult choices after suffering devastating personal or financial crises beyond their control. These are your neighbors. Hunger isn’t always obvious but it impacts the lives of so many. These outcomes are not acceptable to the team at BetterALife. We believe that by providing food, educational assistance, and life-skill services, we can help break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for individuals and families in need. Together, we can make a difference. #BetterALife #FoodInsecurity #CommunityImpact #endchildhunger #zerohunger #endpoverty #community #charity #nonprofit #purcellville #loudoun #loudouncounty #westvirginia #fairfaxcounty
