The YMCA Louisiana Youth and Government (Y&G) program is a statewide initiative promoting civic engagement through the YMCA's philosophy of being an organization that is continuously active in exercising social responsibility. This particular program prepares high schoolers for moral and political leadership. Through Y&G, teens learn about and experience government policies first-hand and learn how they can be changemakers to improve their communities. Plus, teens form lasting friendships, benefit from mentors, and sharpen their critical thinking, public speaking and writing skills. The mission of the YMCA Youth & Government program is two-fold: To encourage and foster leadership through service, fellowship, responsibility, and respect for oneself and others among all participants, and To educate and engage students in the process of government from local to national to international so that they become more active participants in their communities. DEMOCRACY MUST BE LEARNED BY EACH GENERATION"

Exciting developments in Mississippi! Every six weeks, leaders from public and private sectors convene at the Mississippi Action Learning Network (MALN) to collaboratively enhance services for the people of Mississippi. This peer group, comprising 15 leaders from various agencies, is making waves in advancing family economic mobility and addressing critical issues affecting Mississippians. Facilitated by Alex Figueroa, Assistant Director of Learning and Development at the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA), MALN provides a crucial platform for leaders to unite, share ideas and comprehensively understand their impact on Mississippi. APHSA plays a pivotal bipartisan role, supporting leaders from human services agencies to uplift individuals, families and communities nationwide. At the core of MALN's mission is generative leadership, innovative programming, customer-centered experiences, and community-focused education. As a pioneering state in advancing family economic mobility, MALN is addressing workforce development, talent acquisition, equitable pay scale transition and more. Learn more: https://wkkf.co/bgdc

Yes, the journey towards our collective liberation is demanding. Yes, it is deep work. But it's not a case of all work and no play. It's important to embrace joy and pleasure. In a world that wants to tie our “worth” to our productivity, making space for play is an act of resistance. Cultivating spaces for laughter, celebration, and relaxation not only sustains us but also fosters a sense of community and solidarity. It's simply people living the full, vibrant spectrum of human experience. Which is precisely what our collective work in the Resilient Racial Justice Leadership Certificate Program seeks to protect and elevate. Though we will be earnest stewards of our time together, it's not about “productivity.” It's about nourishing our souls and accessing our resilience. If you’d like to learn more about our Certificate Program, which is currently enrolling, please click the link in our bio. Enrollment is open now through Monday, January 15.
