Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending The Meetings Show #NextGen session, and it was an incredibly valuable experience! Here are some highlights from the insightful sessions: 🗣️ Priya Narain co-founder of Event First Steps delivered an excellent session on top networking tips for industry newcomers: - Research the event you are attending. - Set realistic networking goals. - Think of some conversation openers. - Bring a friend with similar goals. - Use positive body language. - Be authentic. - Keep going! Learn from every experience, good or bad. 🤝 Iulia Alexandra Zorzoana of Meetings Industry Association shared the benefits of joining Meetings Industry Associations and the advantages of student memberships, which include: - Enhancing work experience opportunities. - Developing your CV. - Understanding the latest industry trends. - Networking with businesses. - Personal development opportunities. 💼 Claire Hughes Cairn Group , provided valuable insights into job availability and career development within the industry, emphasizing the numerous benefits of student membership. 🎤 Shonali Devereaux (she / her) (My personal favourite) highlighted the importance of crafting a powerful elevator pitch: - Who am I? - What do I do? - What's my ask? (Call to action) The session was a fantastic opportunity to learn, network, and gain new perspectives on the industry. It was an opportunity to meet newcomers and industry experts. So glad to have attended this session with Hollie Miller Alisha Mitchell Ana Beatriz Baglioli Benedicta Asante who are also doing great in their respective journeys.
