Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day! Today is a day to celebrate and take action in all of your work-related endeavors. As a designer, I've learned a lot in the past year about designing for accessibility. However, I still have a long way to go, as things are constantly changing. As we all take action to make accessibility a daily priority in our workflow, things will only get better for those who have needed this to happen for years. Take the time to learn and implement accessible practices in your print, digital, and social media projects. #GlobalAccessibilityAwarenessDay #AccessibilityMatters https://lnkd.in/g_V-xA26

Connection with people in your community is a powerful thing. Amazing things emerge from our communities. These pockets of activity where passionate people work collectively to shape how we understand ourselves and our world. These 'scenes' have the potential to become powerful markers of change. The building of community over shared interest to positively impact the world are exciting things to be part of. Being part of creative communities has always been a highlight of my life and work. Embracing that third space between work and home to create and learn and share. To be part of a scene and to find connection with other people. To engage and learn and find moments of awe and wonder as new forms of expression make their way into the world. There are great examples of how these creative scenes shape communities that connect people from different backgrounds, different interests, different cultures, and different sectors together to have shared experiences, to explore ideas, to work together, and to have conversations around hopeful visions for the future. Scenes and communities appear throughout our cultural histories and will continue to connect people together - bringing creative practitioners alongside science, business, education, health, community leaders, and more to invent new possibilities that encourage sharing, growth and open minded connections. Which communities or scenes are you connected to? How do you find the third space in your life? Here are some more ponderings on the Creative Waikato website: https://lnkd.in/gNMaaUjn

An estimated 16 million people in the U.K. experience disability. Yet, disabled people are often over-excluded in marketing, whether it comes to representation or digital accessibility features. Today (Sunday 3rd December) is International Day of People with Disabilities, and our Think with Google team worked with the brilliant Purple Goat Agency and Dr Shani Dhanda FRSA to create a one-stop accessibility resource that helps marketers build more inclusive marketing. From bringing people with lived experiences and expertise onto your team, to keeping a checklist to ensure no caption, alt tag, or voiceover is overlooked.
