🏅 Big Sports Events Boost Public Transport Ridership 🏅 Major sports events significantly impact public transport ridership, and the Boston Marathon is a prime example! 🚍🏃 Nearly 30,000 people signed up to run the 26.2 mile race, representing 118 countries and all 50 U.S. states, according to the Boston Athletic Association. Ridership was up by 6% on the Red, Orange, and Blue lines, with about 225,000 entries. The Worcester Commuter Rail Line saw approximately 30,000 passengers, more than double the usual Monday count. Roughly 77,000 entries were counted on the Green Line, a 70% increase over a typical Monday, marking the highest single-day entries since before the pandemic. MBTA GM/CEO Phillip Eng commented, "Throughout the weekend and on Marathon Monday, we carried robust ridership across the system. This further illustrates just how vital public transit is [...] and we’re grateful for the thousands of participants, Marathon spectators, and riders who trusted the MBTA to get them to their destinations, including the finish line." With special schedules and additional trips, public transport plays a crucial role in supporting large-scale events, ensuring fans and participants can travel safely and efficiently. 👏 #PublicTransport #SportsEvents #BostonMarathon #RidershipBoost #CommunitySupport #MBTA https://lnkd.in/eTywnv_j 📸: wal_172619

Augusta National is far more than a golf club, and it's far more than the site for one of the world's leading sporting events. Indeed, it is a one-of-its-kind organization that exemplifies excellence across a multitude of disciplines. As I departed from Augusta over the weekend, I reflected on this special place that Jim Nanz aptly described on television as "a tradition unlike any other." (Augusta subsequently trademarked this phrase). Below are three observations that struck me as fundamental to Augusta's remarkable success. ✅ Attention to detail. At Augusta, every detail is attended to. From the perfect fairways, where not a single blade of grass appears out of place, to the spotless stands and the staff's service, nothing is overlooked. ✅ A vision unlike any other. Augusta was born in 1932 out of the dauntless vision of Bobby Jones (then an iconic US golfer) and British golf course architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie to be a leading national golf course that would host world-class competitions. The club's commitment to being the best is reflected in everything you see—from television coverage to positioning attendees as "patrons" rather than spectators to the club's blue-chip membership. ✅ Long-term decision-making. Augusta does not play for short-term wins. It is invested in long-term value creation and a fundamentally different product than other tournaments. It executes for the long term with unwavering commitment. The famous 330-yard Magnolia Lane that extends from the entrance gate to the clubhouse was paved in 1947, yet the large magnolia trees that line both sides of the road date to the late 1850s. Anchored in tradition but embracing change with cutting-edge technology and analysis—that, to me, is what makes Augusta great. If you have not visited the Masters, I would encourage you to do so—even if it is only to study the remarkable Augusta National institution. #AugustaNational #Golf #Excellence #MagnoliaLane #Tradition

One of the year's best weekends has arrived... The Master's golf tournament. Here are some interesting $ stats around golf's most prestigious event.. 📺 Television revenue = $0 You may be surprised to learn that The Masters does not make any money off U.S. domestic TV viewership. And it's done on purpose. The Masters has an agreement with ESPN & CBS that gives the tournament complete control over the broadcast in exchange for not charging the networks. It's been said this helps add to the "exclusive" nature of the event. 🥪 Concessions revenue = $8 million The Masters is known for their signature concession stands. Whether it's the pimento cheese or egg salad sandwiches, moon pies, and several others. Best of all, the tournament prides itself with its "throwback prices". Most food and drink options range from $1.50 to $6. Not too shabby! 🏌️♂️ Players purse = $18 million There are typically between 90-100 players in the tournament each year. You have to be in the top 50 after the first 2 rounds to make the cut. The first place winner will bring home a whopping $3.24 million. 50th place equals around $45,000. Still not bad for playing 4 rounds of golf! 👕 Merchandise sales = $70 million Merchandise is by far one of the biggest money markers for The Masters. While they may forego earning from TV revenue, they make up a lot selling swag. The Masters is the most iconic brand in the golf world and recognizable even by casual fans. It's no surprise that the tournament's patrons are more than happy to open their wallets to show off those Masters hats, shirts, etc. ---- Who are you picking to win it all this year?

“You swing your best, when you have the fewest things to think about” Bobby Jones This quote is featured on the first slide of the Center of Gravity Golf full swing presentation. Every time I tee it up with friends or clients, one of the first things I notice are the gears grinding while the player tries to remember every golf lesson they’ve had, or golf tip they’ve been exposed to this week. I’ve always said, the longest 2 seconds in sport, are the 2 seconds of focus it takes to execute a consistent golf swing. Even though your golf swing may be good, your thought processes will cross up your golf swing very quickly, leading to frustration. I happened to cross paths with Geoff Greig a few months ago. Geoff is a 2 sport professional athlete and sports phycologist who created the Zone Athletic Performance program for golfers. Any professional athlete, no matter what the discipline, understands how important a quiet mind is to optimum performance, this is where Geoff comes in. I had the opportunity to try Geoff’s 3 hour Golf ZAP program on line. Significant, is not a strong enough word to describe the difference in the quality of shots and FW/Greens in regulation. This program is easy and quick, and only costs $39.00! This zone approach pre-shot routine builder will change the way you play, by cutting your swing thought process down through awareness. Even better…Geoff has made a COG coupon for $10.00off…Follow the link and enter coupon code COGstudents and experience maximum consistency, quickly...for $29.00 COG APPROVED SHARE THIS POST : ) https://www.ggzap.com/

🏌️♀️Emma started her golf journey 3 years ago. Fast forward to today: Emma averages about 9 rounds a year. While some members are enjoying up to 52 rounds a year. So she began to wonder: ↪️Was this fair? ↪️Could her club adopt a more balanced system? ↪️Were there other clubs that had a different approach? The thought stuck with her even more over a casual coffee chat. A friend shared that some clubs in the Netherlands were experimenting with: 🟢 Memberships tailored to how often you play. 🟢 A system that recognizes that not all golfers are the same. 🟢 Clubs there saw a 27% membership boost, with happier members. Here's what your Club can consider: 1️⃣ A flexible membership that matches your member’s pace. 2️⃣ A fairer system that could make everyone feel valued. 3️⃣ More options that cater to all golfing lifestyles. Could this be your new approach? Your Club could boost revenue and gain a competitive edge by adjusting membership models. At the core of golf sit two very diametrically opposed views: The governance of golf vs. The participation of golf. Whereas debates about technology advancements in equipment is something that will likely affect us as players, we have little to no say on how those decisions are made. Those are governance issues. On the other hand, how the game is disseminated, community aspirations and motivations to participate in golf - these are levers of participation. We see ourselves having a vested interest in this side of things. How do we engage, entertain and empower people from our community to partake in this game and enjoy the full benefits the game has to offer? We recently sat down with The PGA, Golf Business Quarterly magazine to share some of our ideas on their platform and it is truly humbling to have BBG featured in the latest edition of the magazine. https://lnkd.in/esg2iEjx
