#workshopwrapup We had an insightful session on User-Centered Problem Solving with Nicola Filzmoser, where we delved deep into the concept of #designthinking, the lean startup method, the #value proposition canvas, and so much more. Design thinking isn't just a buzzword – it's a critical process for solving complex healthcare challenges. Here are some key takeaways from Divij Kinger, co-founder of MilkyV from the #cohort7: 👉 What is Uncertainty? Uncertainty is the unknown factors and risks that can affect the success of our projects. It’s the gap between what we know and what we need to know to make informed decisions. 👉 How Do You Measure Uncertainty? Measuring uncertainty involves identifying the unknowns and quantifying them as much as possible. This means breaking down the problem into smaller, measurable components and using metrics to assess each one. 👉 What Metrics Can You Bring In? Metrics such as user feedback scores, usability test results, and engagement analytics can help quantify uncertainty. These metrics provide tangible data that can be analyzed to better understand user needs and pain points. Key Learning: “What can be measured can be fixed.” This powerful insight resonated with everyone. Coming from a lab background, Divij emphasized the importance of measurable data in problem-solving. By identifying and quantifying uncertainties, we can take concrete steps to address them. This session reminded us that embracing uncertainty and measuring it diligently can lead to actionable insights and impactful solutions. Let's continue to seek out the unknowns, measure them, and innovate with confidence! How do you measure and manage uncertainty in your projects? Share your strategies and experiences in the comments below. #sessionwrapup #usercentereddesign #leanstartup #innovation #visionhealthpioneersincubator #learningtogether #berlinstartup #uxdesign #valuebasedcare #healthtech #medtech #incubator #founderjourney

💥 We'll say it loudly for the people in the back: think before you build! 💥 Friends of ASquared will know we’re big fans of the Lean Startup Method by #EricReis. The tried-and-tested approach puts value creation first, before the expense of product development. However, we speak to a lot of startup founders who are beyond the ‘gauge interest’ stage and are ready to create a product. Great! They have a solid idea with real interest, but are not sure what to do next. Whilst there’s a myriad of options, here’s our winning combination that is truly tried and tested: ➡ understand your target audience’s needs through user research, by speaking to representative users of your future product to identify their challenges and what drives their decisions ➡ explore a potential solution quickly by prototyping the product and testing it directly with users. This could be a clickable prototype where screens are stitched together and act like a real product, or better yet, a fully-working prototype that mimics complex functionality like personalisation and user data ...all before diving into development. A well-made prototype that’s backed by user research can provide invaluable learning, insights and improvements, and massively reduce future risk. 🙋♀️ Need help? One of the most valuable tools for anybody who is building a product (founders, product managers, designers) are user flow diagrams. I first learned these from Tamara Adlin 15 years ago. They’ve stood the test of time and now they’re proving valuable to make AI useful for people. They capture the essence of customer discovery, the steps that your customers go through to finish the job to be done that your product helps them with. They help align your team around a common understanding of what your business does. They are a great tool for collaborative sessions to get things from inside people’s heads out in the open where they can be talked about and decisions can be made that are visible to everyone involved. They let you separate user behavior from features, ideas, and questions. They give you a framework for incorporating AI into your product in a way that doesn’t just slap an AI button on top of everything but actually makes sense for your users. They form the basis for your product strategy and your user experience. The are the backbone that makes sure you’re not wasting time and money on building the wrong things. I’ll be talking more about them in my upcoming workshop at Venture Mechanics Startup Incubator / Accelerator’s Hackathon this Sunday. The link to the event is in the comments and I’ll be posting more about it this week. Stay tuned! The example below is for movie goers. I choose it because most everybody is familiar with it. I’ve used this approach for social networking, media, web 3.0, SaaS, medical collaboration, and many other types of businesses. If you’re interested in talking more, let’s chat. Calendly link in the comments as well. #startups #uxdesign #productmanagement #uxstrategy #productstrategy #teamalignment #collaboration #ideation

Imagine that you come up with a brilliant product idea & you start wondering - 1️⃣ 𝐈𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐭? 2️⃣ 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫? 3️⃣ 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐈 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐲 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭? 📢 Here's where the concept of 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 comes in. 𝐈𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚-𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐧, 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬. Your next immediate thought would be "𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 & 𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐕𝐏❓". 💡 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞: This is the bare-bones version. Think of it as a sneak peek, not the finished product. 💡 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞: Building on the pretotype's insights, you can now create a more detailed version with some functionality. This is your prototype. 💡 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐕𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 (𝐌𝐕𝐏): The MVP is the usable version with core functionality for a price. Users can pay and experience the core functionality, but the experience may not be perfect yet. Alberto Savoia, in his book "𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐈𝐭" shares a fascinating case study from IBM's history. At the time when speech recognition was a futuristic dream, they envisioned a revolutionary text-to-speech machine. Instead of diving headfirst into development, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 – 𝐚 𝐝𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦! Users who used this machine loved the error-free transcription, but unforeseen usability issues arose. Their throats became sore from extended dictation, and the noisy process demanded a dedicated workspace. This experiment exposed critical user experience flaws, 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 IBM 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡. 🎯 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 & 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧. Pretotyping lets you gather valuable user insights at the very beginning of your product development journey. 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐕𝐏. Embrace the power of a rough and simple pretotype to validate your idea to guide your product's direction, functionality, and ultimately, its success. #rethinksystems #productmanagement #nextleap #productdevelopment #founders #startups

✨ When diving into the exciting journey of creating a new product, one pivotal stage takes the spotlight: Prototyping! 🎯 Prototyping is the remarkable process of bringing your product vision to life in tangible form. and here's why it matters: 👉🏻After creating a working model, you can test your product in real life. Test drive your design! Before production, you can spot and fix any issues. 👉🏻Prototyping is your runway! It shows how your product looks in person from all angles. You can improve design flaws, including size, shape, and aesthetics to boost product performance. 👉🏻 Focus on the User! Create a physical model to see how users interact with it. Imagine being backstage at a concert, watching the audience. Any usability issues? Fix! This creates a great user experience, making your product a customer favorite. 👉🏻 Prototyping promotes innovation. Your objective is to create something unique that fulfills your consumers' startup ambitions. At EZInnovation, we truly understand the value of a tangible prototype above all else.
