It’s only right that the finale in our 40th video series, in which we've looked back at where we started all the way through to where we're headed, is fronted by none other than our founder Richard Branson. It’s a love letter to our people, the red thread that sets us apart. Say no more. This evening we party. #VirginAtlantic #RedSpirit #BornToBeDifferent

Happy 40th birthday. A special word for the staff VAA cut adrift in 2022 many of whom had served VAA loyally for over 20 years and received nothing more than a P60 in the post. No small gesture of appreciation. Not even a thank you. During a crisis a company and its senior management team tend to show its true colours. A class action court case by ex VAA staff is currently sitting. All power to those ex VAA staff fighting for justice and dignity. The vast majority of these women, whom juggled being cabin crew with motherhood. Many with 20 years loyal service. My own personal experience of VAA is that it’s been in decline for a number of years and unfortunately is a shadow of its former self. Gone is that something special that differentiated VAA from the rest.

And another 'Kick in the face' to the hundreds of Cabin Crew unnecessarily made redundant during COVID without being allowed back. If you recall you were 'heartbroken' and 'devastated' at having no other choice but to make thousands redundant for a few months but paradoxically then prevented a significant number from ever returning!? Virgin were certainly 'unique' with their redundancy Hold Pool as the only airline to put restrictions on who returned after claiming to be grief stricken at losing them during Covid. If the sadness at saying goodbye to these long serving and loyal crew was genuine you'd have allowed an unfettered return of ALL them You'd have also avoided costly, protracted and potentially damaging litigation which is is ongoing. 2020 to 2021 was not Virgin's finest hour!

A magnificent achievement against a seriously competitive and complex industry. To be honest not many thought VA had a chance to do two years! You and all the VA staff from all levels have made this happen. VA have successfully touched so many people’s hearts by being so carring and understanding from boarding to arrival. We spend a lot of time together throughout. VA continue to stimulate our imagination for flying and inspire thousands of young people. The brand says to its customers “You care and you share” And may it continue to be a shining beacon of professionalism and humanity. 👍🥂🥂🏆🥂🥂

As a historian, my research focuses on why politicians dismiss the advice of experts and its funding impact on collaborations in the aviation, aerospace, and astronomy sectors.

#Questionforthegroup Can you recall the childhood heroes who shaped your life and career? How much do you think they had to fundraise to support their vocation?

The early days we’re something else.remember travelling on a Britannia staff ticket to New York in 1990 and the service was far beyond anything my company could offer .a very memorable flight .
