Sharing a video collaboration of a landing at LPPT around sunset. The video beautifully captures the scenery of Lisbon from above during golden hour. The outside footage was captured by Lisbon Airport Spotting (look him up on YouTube and Instagram). Flying the Herc on an instrument approach at a busy international airport challenges your airmanship, as you try to match the airline traffic flow so the ATC doesn’t get frustrated with you. Energy and configuration management are mandatory for a safe and stable approach resulting in a smooth landing. In this landing, you can see the aircraft floating a little bit after the first touchdown. This can happen due to low gross weight (final sortie of the day), some ground effect (big wingspan and warm tarmac), and low calculated touchdown speeds (which can make our awesome engine produce positive thrust even in flight idle).
