Industry News of Interest: Six Considerations When Choosing Machine Vision in Collaborative Applications Machine vision dates back to the beginning of the modern industrial robot age in the 1980s. Augmenting collaborative robots (or ‘cobots’) with vision allows them to perform with higher precision, flexibility, and intelligence. However, integration is not a one-size-fits-all process as the specific requirements of each application can vary greatly. Industry 5.0 is on the horizon! 🤖 Where Industry 4.0 has focused on ensuring consistency of quality, flow and data collection, Industry 5.0, while still focused on these goals, puts more attention on highly-skilled people and robots working side-by-side. Naturally, this will further ignite the presence of collaborative robots, or cobots, on factory floors. While historically cobots have not been as popular as industrial robots, several drivers have been proposed to accelerate their adoption, including Industry 5.0. However, as robots become free of their cages and work closer to humans, it is vital that robots have accurate control over their movements. In today's world, sustainability is more crucial than ever. But, how can robotics technology add positive changes in the manufacturing processes? It certainly raises lots of questions and doubts. In this post, we are looking at how to drive sustainability through robotics in the manufacturing industry. 1. Energy Efficiency Robotics systems are designed to function effectively, consuming less energy than traditional production processes. For example, robotic arms with superior sensors can optimise energy use by altering power levels in response to workload demands. 2. Waste Reduction By precisely managing material utilisation and minimising errors, robotics automation can reduce waste generation in manufacturing. Robotic systems, for example, can cut and measure precisely, saving material waste in industries like 3D printing and metal manufacturing. 3. Resource Optimisation Robotics technology helps manufacturers to use resources more effectively by streamlining manufacturing processes. In sectors like food processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing, robots can optimise resource utilisation by monitoring and adjusting factors in real time, including water, raw materials, and chemicals. 4. Resilient Supply Chains By facilitating just-in-time production, cutting down on wasteful inventory, and streamlining transportation logistics, robotics automation can help create more sustainable supply chains. Robotic solutions can reduce excess inventory and minimise transportation emissions by automating inventory management and order fulfilment procedures. To sum up, robot technology has a great deal of promise to improve the sustainability of manufacturing processes. Businesses may reduce their environmental impact, save resources, and help create a better planet for coming generations by adopting robotics solutions. Let's keep utilising robotics to create a more sustainable future! #IndustrialRobotics #SustainableManufacturing #Robotics ##ManufacturingInnovation

Sustainability has many meanings to different people or organisations. It encompasses principles and practices for topics such as environment, resources and viabilities. Everyone is responsible for the environment. Reducing carbon emissions, minimising pollution, and conserving natural resources. These are what we as an individual adhere to. What does it mean to the manufacturing and other bigger organisations? What are the monetary value of practising sustainability?
