The simple power of building networks that support communities is inspiring.
The vital work of the SA Active Living Coalition continues with old and new partners. Pictured at Weigall Reserve, North Plympton, are Charles Mountain from the RAA, Sharon Kelsey from Walking SA, David Bailey and Heath Edwards from the South Australian Active Living Coalition, and Michelle Crisp from the Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing. The RAA has generously agreed to fund the ALC into 2024, taking over from the previous funders Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing. All parties will continue to be part of the ALC. Walking SA will continue its role as the auspicing body for the ALC, contributing its governance and administrative support. City of West Torrens Wellbeing SA

Most ECs are a WASTE OF TIME. If you want to get into an Ivy League College you have to spend your time with clubs that will allow you to demonstrate your talents to the highest level. Don’t waste your time with meaningless volunteering or BS clubs that just “meet to meet”. #ivyleague #ivyroadmap #harvard #college #application #admissions #clubs #ec #extracurricular

Lessons we can all apply to our lives. Whether it’s business, athletics, raising children, education, continuing to develop our relationship with our significant others I think we can all learn a thing or two about paying attention to the basics. https://lnkd.in/gyfJRGve

As a firm believer in non-traditional schools (both of our kids attend one), I couldn't be prouder of Pine Ridge Construction Management for having supported such an amazing one. Kids shouldn't be trapped at a desk all day, but rather learning from hands-on experiences. A little detail about Schools Without Walls for those who are curious. "All curriculum, courses, and student experiences at School Without Walls are planned, developed, and implemented with the clear intention of helping students become self-sufficient lifelong learners. We are a learner-centered school. Our students participate in interdisciplinary classes with project-based curricula. We use the community as a base and resource for our work. Our students have individual academic teacher-advisors and are involved in school governance. Graduation requirements include completion of portfolios and senior projects instead of standardized testing requirements." #community #handsonlearning #learninganddevelopment
Earlier this week we had the honor of sponsoring a hole at School Without Walls of Rochester, NY's golf scramble where our very own Brad Osterling was able to enjoy the sun while supporting an awesome cause! #community #education #school #supportlocal

VP of Major and Transformational Gifts, United Way of Central Indiana - Transforming the lives of recipients, donors, and fundraisers by creating opportunities for all three to live up to their full potential.
This week on Querical: how a fundraising team is very much like a middle school swim team. Did I really just compare us to middle schoolers? Yes, I did, and in the best possible way... For the uninitiated, individual performances and “wins” might be the defining feature of a swim meet. But this hides a bigger truth about how teams can actually WIN a meet. The head coach of our inimitable middle school swim brigade, my friend Joe Schroeder (accounting professor and chair of the Kelley School of Business Graduate Accounting Program) is a numbers guy, as you might expect. He is really into how you shape the team’s entries into meets to get the most points and win the meet as a team. When seeing a swim TEAM through such a lens, all of a sudden, ALL performances become important. How does this relate to being part of a fundraising team? Read more on this week's Querical:

Giving Tuesday We have had Black Friday, which seemed to last a whole month, everywhere you looked there were messages telling you how much you could save. And still they go on. It’s Time to flip that on its head. Life is enriched not by having but giving. For me, Happiness and a meaning to life comes from giving to others, especially those less fortunate than oneself. This is the point of Giving Tuesday. Many charities need you. You can always find one that sparks a real meaning for you. They come in all shapes and sizes, for a huge range of causes. Giving doesn’t just mean money. You can give your time, your energy, or simply your voice to spread awareness. Your support is what they need. One charity I support is Ride For Freedom – A charity that supports survivors of modern slavery. Follow the link here to find out more. https://lnkd.in/eMUEtXpG The weekend of Friday December 1st to Sunday December 3rd is their annual Cycle Revolution event. Lots of people around the country are doing various events to raise funds for their Freewheel programme. The programme supplies cycles to survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery. The aim for the weekend is to supply 200 bikes for the programme. The event page is here https://lnkd.in/e6bDefE5 I am doing my bit for the cause by giving my time and energy over the weekend. On Saturday 2nd December I will be attempting to complete the vEveresting challenge. Riding on Zwift for repeats of the virtual Alpe D’Zwift climb until I reach the equivalent of the height of Mount Everest, 8848 metres of climbing, approximately 9 ascents of the Alpe. On Sunday morning 9am, I will be leading a one hour social ride around a flat course in virtual London on Zwift with Gordon Miller, CEO of Ride For Freedom. This ride is a great opportunity to ride at a social pace and chat on Discord with fellow Zwifters. With Zwift’s magic band function keeping everyone together regardless of power, its the perfect club ride. Opportunities to join me on Saturday exist throughout the day. If you use Zwift and want to ride even a small section of the Alp with me, I would be very grateful of the company. To join, first make sure you are following me on Zwift. My Zwift name is F rosty the snowbear (just search for Snowbear and you should find me). Then use the Ride with a Zwifter option on your home screen and select my name. It will take me at least 12 hours to do this so plenty of opportunity to find me whatever time you are free, your support on the day will be very welcome. Donation page for Ride For Freedom Cycle Event is here https://lnkd.in/eCKCATvQ Please give whatever you can, time, energy, voice or money. Please share this post to add your voice to the cause. #RideForFreedom #Charity #GivingTuesday #ZWIFT #vEveresting #CycleRevolution #EndModernSlavery #Freewheel #ShowARedCard #donatenow #pedalforchange #abolitionofslavery #socialimpact
