The concept of Hospital at Home and Early Discharge Solutions presents a promising strategy. By facilitating patients to receive necessary care at home or ensuring timely discharge for those ready to transition out of the hospital setting, we can significantly alleviate the pressure on emergency departments and inpatient facilities. Our Mass General Brigham Home Hospital team is working diligently to expand geographically and is collaborating with other hospitals across the country as well as critical industry enablers to deliver the benefits of this model of care to patients and providers alike. As highlighted in a recent piece from Fortune, this form of care “delivers equal or superior results compared to traditional inpatient care in a whole raft of areas: hospital readmissions, mortality, total cost, average length of stay, and patient satisfaction.” The article also notes that Medicare coverage for Home Hospital services is set to expire at the end of 2024. It is crucial Congress passes a permanent extension to ensure access to quality care and address the current capacity challenges faced by hospital systems across the nation. https://lnkd.in/gm7GV6Ca

Another example of the value in a comprehensive provider group like TeamHealth to be a facility partner. The breadth and depth of services we provide in the Continuum of Care (Acute to Post Acute to Virtual Care in the home) is second to none in the healthcare ecosystem.
When a 100-bed facility in South Carolina worked to open its doors after the pandemic, TeamHealth stepped in to optimize the facility’s grand opening. In this white paper, Dr. Nathaniel Kesner, MBA, SFHM, Regional Medical Director, Special Operations Director, Hospitalist Services, Southeast Group, shares how the facility partnered with us to successfully launch three full-service departments including an integrated emergency department, hospitalist program and ICU, on day one of the facility’s opening. When Floridians no longer need the acute care that hospitals provide, post-acute care that's timely and in the right setting is critical to patients' health outcomes. That's why FHA is collaborating with statewide partners like the South Florida Hospital & Healthcare Association to determine workable solutions to expedite post-acute care. "The causes are multi-faceted. Solutions will need to be as well. But, with a commitment to ensuring no patient stays in a hospital bed longer than necessary for their medical needs, Florida can lead the way in identifying strategies and solutions to accelerate care transitions so that every patient can continue their healing journey without delay, imprediment or setback."
