In addition to still facing pandemic-related challenges, the Company also faces competition from indie cosmetic lines capitalizing on TikTok marketing, while also grappling with balancing reliance on traditional department store sales, such as Macy's and Nordstrom which some maintain are key to the brands’ cachet, versus embracing beauty retailers like SEPHORA and Ulta Beauty. An award-winning team. 🌟 Last week, I was honored to attend The Fragrance Foundation Awards at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to celebrate and recognize this year's finalists. The event also marked the 75th anniversary of the foundation. TFF Awards are commonly referred to as the Emmys, Oscars, or GRAMMYs of the fragrance industry. Over 1,000 celebrities, artists, designers, and brand leaders attended the star-studded and sold-out event, including notable figures like Vera Wang and Nina Garcia. Presented by the iconic Christie Brinkley, NEST New York, and founder Laura Slatkin, were awarded Fragrance of the Year: Popular for our Eau de Parfum, Lychee Rose. The brand was also awarded Innovative Fragrance Product of the Year for its Fifth Avenue Holiday Activation, brought to life in partnership with Scent Marketing Inc. Tonight, we have the privilege of celebrating two additional honors. I think it's this type of thinking that will empower retail leaders. Words have power, so if you go to your Store Manager and are like "you are my business partner, you see and hear the things I don't, so I trust your input," it would shift so much! That practice will also trickle down hand help relations between Store Managers and their employees. It fosters an environment for learning and building a workforce from within. So as people move up, you have already built a strong team from within and you can shift people into those positions. It's a healthy cycle that allows folks to develop their skills, reduces turnover and promotes hiring from within first.
