Product Development Manager at Total Fitness adopting a member-centric approach to creating the leading member experience in the industry.
After 320km of cycling this weekend, my training for #TourDeTotalFitness is complete. Time to taper down now before I set off from Teesside in 10 days. So LinkedIn, what do I need from you? Recommendations for your favourite motivational training songs - I’ll make a playlist with all suggestions (although I may remove connections if the songs turn out to be joke choices) Or are there any super motivating audible books you would recommend? I’ve got about 36 hours of cycling to fill - let’s go! #cycling #charity #totalfitness

Are 5K's the key to the future of trail running? Yesterday I was curious about one of the fastest growing races on the platform - Healdsburg Turkey Trot - by Skip Brand and his team. I wanted to know how many of the thousands of runners in this race were new to the UltraSignup platform. So, I asked our data guru - Matt Abbott - to find out. The results - 2/3 of the runners were new to the platform. That's huge. So, that means, because of the efforts of Skip and his team, thousands of people have now had exposure to the broader community of trail adventures. Certainly, many of these runners will race more of Skip's races, but they will also explore races from other directors. This is the power of the community. Skip's efforts to put on a local 5K will have ripple effects across the sport. How far will the ripples go? That's hard to tell. A certain percentage of these racers will sign up for other races in the next weeks, months, and years. They will also brings friends along with them to share the experience with. Then the ripples will extend into their circles of friends. These are network effects in action. So, I would encourage all of our race directors to think about the power of the 5K, even if it's not on a trail. New Years Day resolution runs, St. Paddy day, Firecrackers 5Ks, Turkey Trots, etc. They may be the key to the long-term growth of our sport. Providing these athletes with an entry point into this awesome community is so powerful. Creating an accessible laddering of distances will pay dividends for you and for the sport more broadly. Just look at the number of kids in the photos - the future members of our sport right up front! Great work Skip and our team is cheering you on! #TrailRunning #UltraSignup #RunningCommunity https://lnkd.in/gYwfKJ6J

We couldn't help but draw parallels between long-distance running and real estate. Both require unwavering dedication, persistence, and a long-term mindset. Just like marathon runners endure months of training, setbacks, and challenges before the big race, real estate professionals invest years into honing their skills, building their networks, and navigating the ups and downs of the market. And much like the feeling of invincibility that comes over you during a particularly exhilarating run, there are moments in our real estate careers when we feel unstoppable. When deals come together seamlessly, when investments pay off beyond our expectations, we're reminded of the endless possibilities that lie ahead. Perhaps the most striking similarity between long-distance running and real estate investing is the commitment to the long haul. So here's to the marathoners, both on the track and in the real estate game. May we continue to lace up our shoes, tackle challenges head-on, and run towards our dreams with unwavering determination. 💪 Brendan Hirschmann, Manager Hirschmann Homes LLC Direct: 972-559-4648 [email protected] www.HirschmannHomes.com

runbritain organise a few races both on, and off road, and it is not that I enter many, but this race local to me and is known as 'The Beacon race' and in my opinion, really should be more widely known. Itching to get back to running for a while now after various distractions got the better or me, finally today I signed up for the 66th Beacon race in October. Also inspired by Jamal Benmiloud and his upcoming Marathon to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer, and also friends at @Herefordrowingclub who will be taking part in the London to Brighton bike ride I just pressed the button! Now I'm not intending to give the impression that everyone is running or cycling this Autumn, but many are, and whilst saying "yes"sometimes is great. It is also fine at other times to allow others to enjoy the journey. This is one of the themes covered in my blog post (published today on my website https://lnkd.in/ef9RsgiE) that primarily looks at What to do, IF you've not quite got enough training time in? I know; it might sound like a lame excuse? BUT this does happen to pretty much everyone who isn't an elite professional Athlete. Anyway, my suggestions cover a brief introduction to Negative splits, Sports Nutrition and how information really is the key to motivation so often. Shoutout to Strava, which makes such a positive contribution here alongside as I've posted previously Apple Watch. Final note: I'm the second runner in this picture from 2017 and was very happy to end up being the first female to cross the finish line. Not so sure with my lack of running specific training how it will go this time, but looking forward to joining in with this great local event all the same! Of course some of my workout films over the coming weeks may now be running biased in the coming weeks, but feel free to message, if you've got any events you'd like to find a way to finish at better to send me your questions or queries. Or if you just fancy joining this specatular race on the Malvern Hills, go to the runbritain website and enter online. #negativesplit #trainingschedule #runninggoals #malvernhills #beaconrace

We love this photo from Disc Golf Wānaka – it tells a story in so many ways. Bringing together over 30 passionate volunteers to fly the flags of project contributors is no easy feat. Thanks to the combined effort of multiple funders, Disc Golf Wānaka’s event capability just got a huge boost in 2023. 🚀 Sport New Zealand, The Lion Foundation, Aotearoa Gaming Trust, Central Lakes Trust, and Otago Community Trust (via a recent $8,600 grant) supported the groups recent project for the purchase of an events trailer and a cage trailer for disc golf Wānaka. “Thanks to the good folk at these funding organizations for getting behind our game and improving health and wellbeing in the Upper Clutha. The $30,000 of funding has enabled us to purchase a large, enclosed events trailer and a cage trailer with 18 portable helix baskets.” 🙌 This photo is a timely reminder to funders that none of us work in isolation. For our community groups, their initiatives, programmes, and projects come to fruition through collaboration. Our funding is always focused on doing the right and responsible thing, making an impact, providing greater opportunities, and supporting communities to do what they do best. While acknowledgment is nice, the reward is always about seeing community groups succeed and doing the best they can within their communities. 👏 In the meantime, summer is a perfect opportunity for novices among us to give Disc Golf a whirl. If you holiday in Wānaka, you are spoiled for choice with an 18-basket course at Lismore Park, a smaller 9-basket course at Eely Point, alongside the Lake Hāwea disc golf course. However, right across Otago, several courses are popping up as the sport gains popularity. ⛳️🌞 #DiscGolf #CommunitySupport #Collaboration #philanthropy #FundingforOtago #CommunityFunding #OtagoCommunityTrust

UK cyclist fatalities are the lowest in 30 years in 2022. Cycling UK says liveable neighbourhoods, updates to the Highway Code and other road safety measures are likely what have led to the 24% drop in casualties. One such update is the rollout of more 20mph zones. “We know that when cars collide with people at 20mph, there’s a reduced chance of death comparatively to 30mph,” Cycling UK Campaigns Manager Keir Gallagher told Zag Daily. The charity says government action and investment will be key to ensure 2022 is not a statistical anomaly but instead marks the beginning of a longer-term trend in fewer road casualties.
