Zeke credits #valuebasedcare. But he’s only looking at #Medicare & #Medicaid payment. If you include the commercially insured, the US healthcare-related wealth transfers went up another 10% in 2022 to $4.5 Trillion. That’s hardly flattening the cost curve. The backend unit pricing control that government payers impose is much more likely to be real reason for the cost containment. Most providers have barely considered any sort of commercial downside risk. FFS still rules. Expect even more cost-shifting to the commercially insured. Currently the commercial/#Medicare payment ratio is roughly 3/1 & most certainly will continue to accelerate.

Psssst, it’s not the doctors! Even of every physician and their staff worked for free, the dream of the insurance and hospital industries, American yearly healthcare expenditures would only drop from $4.5 to $4.2 trillion. Clearly the proven Bismarck healthcare model employed by Germany, Switzerland and Japan delivering better private FFS medical care access, outcomes and costs for all citizens than America is the answer to our insurer-centric subterfuge. https://lnkd.in/eEYVCTre

Why haven’t health care cost increases exceeded inflation? There’s a very good reason
