VFS GLOBAL......A UNIQUE GLOBAL SERVICES COMPANY OUT OF INDIA Anyone who travels internationally knows of VFS Global as VISAs of most countries are processed by them. But we know of them mainly through travel agents coordinating the VISA and ticketing activities. However, I do not like sharing personal information with travel agents, and prefer to drop off the VISA applications personally at a VFS Center. I have been doing this for years.......however, this time there was a particular issue that I faced. The highly professional manner in which the local team at Bangalore resolved it was both commendable and gratifying to say the least. It is the last mile that has traditionally been the problem in most enterprises all across, which otherwise have adequate processes. But, if those processes do not solve a customer issue, and merely "throw the rule book" at a situation precipitated by an inefficient part in the process, then all is lost in terms of both brand and credibility of the parent organisation. It was here that VFS excelled in my experience at the center last week. I would specifically like to commend the oversight of Ashokkumar Vaithilingam and Sudheer Rao in resolving what could have been an intractable issue. While on the subject , a word on the unique business model of VFS - a specific niche discovered by its founder 20 years ago which has been a win-win for Embassies and VFS : and is now a global standard in efficient VISA processing. Amazing foresight and execution by an Indian company to tap into an unexploited pain area of foreign consulates in early 2000s and growing it to its current size and reach all over the world.
