Early in my ‘corporate life’, a senior corporate leader said - “Ohh…medical field, so communication must be tough for you.” Sir, with all due respect…. Here's the truth: 𝟏. 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Veterinarians excel in communicating complex medical information to pet owners. This skill translates seamlessly to corporate settings, where clear and concise communication is essential for success. 💼💬 𝟐. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: With their compassionate approach to animal care, veterinarians develop strong empathy and interpersonal skills. These qualities make them valuable assets in corporate environments, fostering positive team dynamics and client relationships. 🌟❤️ 𝟑. 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Veterinary medicine often requires quick thinking and adaptability to unexpected situations. This adaptability is a key trait in navigating the dynamic challenges of the corporate world. 🔄💡 So next time you hear someone saying something like this, SMILE! 'coz that's being Empathetic 😁🙂 #MythBusters #VeterinaryProfession #CorporateWorld #CommunicationSkills #EmbraceDiversity #LinkedInForProfessionals #Linkedin #linkedinforcreators #veterinarycareers #veterinary #medical #medicalprofessionals

I am disappointed that my respectful question has been ignored on this job posting that was directed at me (twice… a previous post to which I replied was deleted the day before). You can click the reposted ad to see what I wrote and the support it received (if it isn’t deleted). The question was supported by numerous vet professionals (including several of the specialists they are trying to recruit with this ad) even more so than the ad itself. I think it is clear that Daniel, Alessandra, Kimberly, Tara, Stacy, Whitney, Meighan, Laura, Robert, Chris, Bill, Molly, Brad, Daniel, Krystina, Kathy, Larraine, Hannah, Oren, and Paul all thought it was a reasonable question to which they wanted an answer as well. Ann, I know that you don’t make the policy so please don’t think I’m taking it out on you. This goes for all veterinary recruiters that are reading this and with whom I’ve previously interacted; I am not taking it out on you and I do not think you are bad people. I think your companies are putting you in an awkward position of hiding valuable information from your applicants. The way that veterinary practices advertise these jobs, discuss the benefits, and then ignore simple questions like this is shameful. This means the companies KNOW that noncompetes are unethical. Why else would they wait until months into the conversation to throw in a noncompete? It is manipulative and unfair without even getting into the fact that noncompetes themselves are unethical, impact mental health, cause burnout, and result in pet morbidity/mortality. It is still not too late for BluePearl Specialty Emergency Pet Hospital and others to do the right thing. I will be the first to publicly celebrate and advertise for any hospital or corporation who eliminates noncompetes. Clearly this isn’t just a BluePearl thing. The vast majority of specialty vet employers do this exact same thing. It’s reprehensible. We are exhausted. We will not sign your contracts and your open positions will remain open. #eliminatenoncompetes #endtheveterinarynoncompete #veterinarymedicine #vetmed

Small Animal Veterinarian – Leicestershire - £45-85k DOE, Pro rata This is an independent, established for almost a decade, with hundreds of clients. The founders got out of the rat race (no offense to rats) for the same reason many vets do – they wanted their work to mean something. As a result, it’s not just a job. It’s a community. They love what they do. And that makes them better vets. They collaborate, they discuss cases, and they learn from each other. You’ll get a budget for your continued professional development, too. They’ll fire up the grill in summer and party over the holidays. But importantly, they’ll work together – as a team – to make the place the best it can be. Yes, there’s on call, because obviously the animals need it. But it’s reasonable, it’s empathetic. You’ll always have an RVN with you, and the partners are only ever a phone call away. You’re always supported. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad. If you want a job that’s more about good people and good pets, and less about big firms, ask us any questions you have. Or, if you want to chat to the owners – and we are convinced their interests will align with yours – send your CV. It doesn’t matter if it’s up to date. We will come back to you. VetFinders are here to help you find your next career move. We have lots of jobs across all levels. These change daily, so we always have something of interest. Why not let us do all the searching on your behalf. Please get in touch for a confidential and friendly chat on 01904 563118 or drop us an email. #recruitment #recruiting #veterinaryjobs #veterinaryrecruitment #locumvet #locumrvn #vet #RVN Work somewhere you’re respected by colleagues and clients alike.

From operating theatre to warehouse... Lessons from veterinary I'm applying in my business: "Details affect perception, which influences trust", taught to me by vet nurses. Before operations, the vet nurses I worked with would put in a lot of effort to ensure the area of clipped fur around a pet's operation site was aesthetically pleasing and symmetrical, taking time to meticulously clip straight lines, down to the last hair. As a young vet, whether the clipped fur was visually appealing or not seemed trivial - it does not affect the procedure or its success. One day, I passed a dog back to her owner after a spay procedure. Naturally, the owner immediately glanced down at her dog's abdomen to see what had been done. She then exclaimed, "Wow, that is really neat and tidy - what a good job! Thank you for taking care of her." Her perception of how her pet was cared for and the success of the procedure was based on what she could see - neatly clipped fur and a tidy, clean dressing over the incision site. This affected her trust and satisfaction with our service. She couldn't seem to care less as I explained the really cool, fancy surgical technique I used... #veterinary #customerexperience #smallbusiness #entrepreneurship #attentiontodetail

Read the full response (and other questions) in my North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) Today's Veterinary Business" column here: https://lnkd.in/gjG8Xdcb Q: For the first time in my veterinary career, I’m in a new job and making a generous salary with excellent benefits. The problem is that the non-veterinarian practice manager is a micromanager. She constantly reviews my medical records, questions my SOAPs, and suggests additional diagnostics or treatments. As she scrutinizes my every move, I’m starting to doubt my proficiency as a veterinarian. Unfortunately, my co-workers aren’t supportive. Most have worked here for years and don’t seem interested in getting to know me outside of work. My mental health is declining, just as my income is soaring. Do I stick it out for the money or quit for a lower-paying position? #veterinary #veterinarian #practicemanagement #leadership #business #entrepreneurship #vettech #veterinarytechnician
