Knowing different suture patterns and appropriate materials to be used during a surgical operation is important for every Veterinary Surgeon. A licensed veterinarian is automatically a veterinary surgeon. Though, specialisation comes into play later in career development but this doesn't stop a first degree DVM graduate from undergoing a surgical procedure that he or she feels comfortable about. I remember when a client came to me about her dog. The diagnosis entailed a surgical management procedure. Honestly, prior to that time, I have been rehearsing suture patterns with my suture board, how to properly hold surgical instruments and the likes just to keep my memory active (It's good to prepare ahead). I did not know, that I would handle a surgical condition that day. Running around to get the needed materials including the anaesthetic agents wasn't that easy. I was (I am still) a serving #nysc Corp member in a state I wasn't that popular. The anaesthetic drugs are controlled agents that need special guidelines in procuring. Long story short, the rehearsal paid off, the surgery was successful, the dog is doing very good and the client very satisfied. So, Veterinarians, keep rehearsing and studying, you never may tell what condition you will handle soon. Be courageous and move. Collaborate with colleagues including senior colleagues. Thanks for reading through. This is an unplanned write up, but I hope you got valued and encouraged to keep your career development processes ongoing. I still remain Dr Oluwatobi Adetunji , your veterinary doctor and animal health consultant.

As a Veterinary surgeon, you should know your options especially when aesthetics is concerned. Running X technique pretty much solve the problems associated with most commonly used techniques. It was first introduced by a plastic surgeon. #surgicalskills #vetsurgeon #vetstudents Details @ https://lnkd.in/eT5hifyy

🌟 Back to the Floor: My Day as a Surgeon 🏥✨ Today, I once again embraced our ‘back to the floor’ initiative, this time stepping into the world of veterinary surgery. The hands-on experience was enlightening and humbling, as I joined the front lines alongside our dedicated veterinary team. My Surgical Journey Today: • Expertly managed a Urethral Prolapse, a delicate and intricate procedure. • Performed a Dog Castration, a routine yet essential task. • Tackled a challenging BOAS surgery in a bulldog, improving its quality of life. • Skillfully removed a Tension Band Wire from a Tibial Crest Avulsion, showcasing the precision required in veterinary surgery. 🧠 What I Learned: 👋 Your hands remember surgical techniques more than your brain does. It’s an art honed by practice. 📉 Plan for complications. What may seem straightforward on an X-ray can present unexpected challenges. 👩⚕️ Nurses can multitask way better than vets. Their ability to juggle multiple tasks is nothing short of extraordinary. 🍽️ And yes, I do look quite the sight in a surgical hat, but it’s all part of the job! This experience, as part of our ‘back to the floor’ series, reinforced my respect for our veterinary surgeons. Their precision, dedication, and adaptability under pressure are vital to our success. Every day is a new learning curve, and today was no exception. Here’s to the remarkable skills and unwavering commitment of our surgical team! 🌟🐕🏥 #veterinary #Surgeonforaday #BackToTheFloor #AnimalCareHeroes #bluecross

👁️ Understanding Visual Learning: Visual learning is a powerful method where individuals grasp and retain information best through visual aids like diagrams, images, and charts. If you're someone who learns by seeing things in front of you rather than just hearing or reading about them, chances are you're a visual learner. Here's how you can find out and what you can do to study most effectively: 👉Signs of Being a Visual Learner: You tend to doodle or draw when listening to lectures or participating in discussions. Visual aids like diagrams or flowcharts help you understand complex topics more quickly. You have a keen eye for detail and remember things better when you see them visually. #VetMeet #MeetVetMeet #HouseOfVetMeet #VetCPD #CPD #Radiology #dvm #vetlife #vet #tierarzt #tiermedizin #veto #veterinaire #veterinario #veterinaria #veterinarios #studywisely #knowledge #visualaids #studytips #LearningStyles #StudySmart #UnlockPotential #EmpowerLearning #VisualLearning #AuditoryLearning #KinestheticLearning #ReadingWritingLearning #CognitiveLearning #EmotionalLearning Online education, Veterinary Education, CE, CPD, Knowledge, Veterinarian, Improvement, MRI, CT, Neurologie, Dentistry, Surgery, Exotics, Ultrasound, Cardiology, Soft Tissue Surgery, Physics, Conference, Summer Camp
