This is an amazing article that has many great tips for people who are doing veterinary internships. Two of the main things this article is trying to explain is how people are going to make it in the veterinary world. for example asking lots of questions. The other thing it's saying is how it's good to understand the animals body language and how to hold and handle the animal to understand how the situation will be. #alpinecteinternships, #mountainlandcte, Alpine School District CTE Internships https://lnkd.in/ekAcGH5Z

Sneak Peek into the "Animal Care" world; "Meet Ms Damilola, the Junior Doctor..." I had to try getting used to hearing that line when my superiors introduce me... But I'm still always like "No, sir, I'm a preclinical student..." So, I started my internship on Monday at Animal Care Services Konsult , 'one of the foremost livestock operators in Nigeria'. My first week at the organization was a pretty interesting one. Starting at the Poultry Unit, I got to meet different people of different roles, from Veterinary Doctors, Animal Scientists, Farm associates to Officers/Managers etc all working in synergy... People who welcomed me and made me feel at home. And the main highlight is the line I'd heard before; "Animal Care is an institution of learning" which I experienced for myself. I have learnt a lot in just a week; Management practices of poultry production, Administration of different drugs through different routes, Vaccination, different diseases that poultry is susceptible to, how to recognize them through signs and their prevention, procedures/protocols to receiving day old chicks, biosanitation and biosecurity measures, post mortem analysis etc After orientations, all the activities so far have been a matter of "watch, learn, ask questions, then 'Do it Yourself'", DIY, lol. For a girl who has started learning Anatomy, Medicine, Public health and preventive Medicine, Physiology and Biochemistry in Vet School; It's time to apply my knowledge to a real work environment. That's the whole aim of this "Veterinary Field attachment". As I continue my internship, I look forward to learning optimally as I switch round the different units of the organization. One of my life lessons remains this "Be humble enough to learn in different circumstances..." PS: My next Internship is meant to be at a Diagnostic Laboratory. Do you know of one that accepts interns? I'd like to have a conversation with you, thank you. #DIY #VetStudent #Internship #PTG
