We’re excited to announce that Antonio Valente, Project Manager at ecoinvent, has been selected as one of fifteen experts for the European Hydrogen Sustainability and Circularity Panel (EHS&CP).   This panel, launched by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, aims to propel the EU hydrogen sector to the forefront of sustainable and circular technologies and value chains. The EHS&CP is coordinated by Ecorys, together with TNO and Grant Thornton Greece.   Hydrogen is critical in the transition towards a climate-neutral economy and offers avenues for emission-free transport, heating, industrial processes, and inter-seasonal energy storage. However, realizing its full potential requires a holistic approach that addresses sustainability and circularity throughout its entire life cycle.   Antonio is a member of Task Force 3, which focuses on the crucial aspect of hydrogen end uses, particularly in transport and stationary power generation. Smart Innovations Replace Fossil-based Products Nova Institute Announces Nominees for the “Best CO2-Utilisation 2024” Award The CO₂-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2024, organized by the nova-Institut GmbH, announces six nominees for the innovation award “Best CO₂-Utilisation 2024”. Nominees cover topics from carbon-negative diamonds to CO₂-based fuels for transport. Carbon Capture and Utilisation (#CCU) is a large set of technologies that captures carbon emissions and converts them into renewable fuels and materials, replacing fossil #carbon. Recognised by the IPCC, CCU is crucial for reducing emissions in sectors where alternatives are limited. The CO2-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference, organized by the Nova Institute, has developed into a unique meeting and networking place for the entire CCU and Power-to-X industry and its customers. This year’s edition will take place from 17-18 April, in Cologne, #Germany as a hybrid event. It was recently announced that researchers based at the The University of Queensland have developed a generator that is capable of absorbing Co2 and then converting the captured carbon dioxide into electricity. This excellent development has the potential to significantly benefit the carbon capture industry, as the technology that has been developed could be able to power mobile devices. The technology could also be used to capture carbon dioxide from an industrial site and then harvest energy from the production process. The article below discuses a new project which has been set up with the intention of converting Co2 into sustainable power. Metafuels and the PSI Paul Scherrer Institut have received a 4.4 million Swiss francs grant from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy SFOE to build a pilot plant for sustainable aviation at the PSI campus in Villigen, Aargau.
