We are wheels up! Vertical is delighted that at 17:45 on Thursday 25th July, we successfully conducted the first piloted flight of the new, more advanced VX4 aircraft. The new prototype performed a piloted flight while loosely tethered to the ground, during which Vertical measured over 20,000 flight and system parameters to verify thrust, handling qualities and system performance. This also makes Vertical’s Chief Test Pilot, Justin Paines, the only pilot to have flown two different eVTOLs. An enormous amount of hard work and determination from the whole team has made this possible as we reach the first step on our flight test programme towards piloted transition. #VX4 #eVTOL #FlightTest
Great news, but no surpirse with the great team you have. Congratulations.
Congratulations. A huge step and demonstrates the progress of this great team.
Amazing news, congratulations Vertical Aerospace 🎉👏
That left wing is certainly not tethered to an airframe structural tie down point. If you did have an issue and needed that tether .... 🤔
Unlike most helicopters, if there is a catastrophic rotor failure, can this vehicle glide back down to the ground?
Congratulations!
A great achievement, congratulations to the Vertical team. I am sure there were many tireless hours put in! Keep up the good work.
What an impressive feat achieved by the Vertical Aerospace whole team. VX4 - You are such a beauty..!!! She looks amazingly happy while being extremely stable with her feet off the ground…
Woo-hoo! White looks good.

2moSo much has been achieved by a talented & determined team of Vertical staff and many other partner companies & engineers. Everybody should feel very proud of their contribution to a brand new aircraft in a phenomenally short time period.
