Last week marked the 5th anniversary of our Verbio Welland location in Ontario, Canada. Together with our incredible team we took a moment to look back on what we've achieved.   Plant Manager Robert Bonaldo: “Verbio took over the plant in July 2019 and has been running it continuously 24/7 ever since. Using the Verbio expertise from running biodiesel plants in Europe since 2001, we were able to steadily increase the efficiency and production capacity of the plant. I am proud of the team.”   Verbio CEO Claus Sauter: “We have been pleased with the results being achieved by our Welland team. In the past years we have developed readily executable plans to further increase production capacity, and produce higher value by-products. Expanding our renewable energy footprint in the US Midwest: Verbio celebrated construction start to convert its ethanol plant in #SouthBend, Indiana, into the second integrated biorefinery plant in the United States. Verbio management and city officials gathered on May 23 to break ground for this exciting next step.   👉 Applying its unique technology concept, Verbio will give the South Bend ethanol plant, one of the oldest ethanol plants in the US, a new life. Once the transformation is completed, the site will be producing bioethanol and renewable natural gas on an industrial scale.   👉 We are targeting a production capacity of at least 85 million gallons of corn ethanol and 2.8 billion cubic feet of #RNG annually. Commercial RNG production is expected to start in 2026.   👉 With this $230 million investment, we will not only help strengthen the regional economy. We will also create a renewable source of #biofuels and #bioenergy to add to South Bend`s #cleanenergy portfolio. We make chemistry green! 💚 The world's first ethenolysis plant for renewable chemicals based on rapeseed methyl ester (= biodiesel) is being built at the Verbio Bitterfeld location in Germany. For Verbio, the construction of the plant is an important milestone in its corporate history and its international growth strategy. This week we had the honor to host Senator Chuck Grassley at our Verbio Nevada #biorefinery. We were able to showcase not only our plant, but also our ongoing efforts and commitment towards #renewableenergy solutions. The state of #Iowa is a leader in the nation's transition towards #cleanenergy, and Iowa's growers play a vital role in building the foundation for this path. March 19 marks National Ag Day in America. We would like to give a special shout out to all our dedicated growers whose efforts not only put food on our tables, but also provide our plants with quality raw material for #RNG and #bioethanol production. These valuable partnerships with growers are literally the foundation of our business to create #greenenergy.   To show gratitude to our partners, we come together every year for our Annual Growers Meeting and Appreciation Dinner in South Bend, Indiana. Just last week Verbio held this event with local Indiana growers at the American Legion Club. Our South Bend GM, Chuck Tuskan, gave a presentation about the company and its mission. This was followed by our grain buyers talking about the current grain market, possible outcomes in the coming months, and partnership opportunities we offer.
