If you are interested in #BatteryStorage and want to learn more about the split contracting models applicable to #BESS development (which are common place within this market) you will hopefully find the below mentioned article I recently co-authored with Ronen (Ro) Lazarovitch, Tom Swarbrick and Brandon Price to be of interest. Please get in touch if you would like a soft copy of this article or would like to continue the conversation. #ProjectFinance #EnergyTransition #Bracewell
🔋 Battery storage In the International Comparative Legal Guide - Renewable Energy 2025, Oliver Irwin, Ronen (Ro) Lazarovitch, Tom Swarbrick and Brandon Price of Bracewell LLP look into how developers can seek to optimise their battery storage procurement strategy and capitalise on the current wave of development of utility-scale battery storage facilities. The authors explore the current approaches being adopted in the development of BESS facilities; what the adoption of a split-contracting arrangement could look like, as well as the benefits and risks related to a split-contract strategy; and the mechanisms that key project parties could adopt to manage risk. Our latest report at RMI: Contrary to popular belief, the buildout of renewable energy supply does not require a surge in capital expenditure (capex). As fossil fuel capex falls, the net growth in capex is only 2% a year, in line with the past seven years, and much lower than in the decade after 2000. This is a story of capital reallocation. Very interesting to read. It is important to begin to understand how this transformation into sustainability is going to take place. It is essential for our society to happen but it needs capital to make it happen. From my experience, one of the biggest obstacles towards sustainable solutions in the construction industry is cost compared to current practices.
