Hi everyone. Hope you are all well. So after my last post about raising money for this event https://150mnd.com/ I really would like the communities help. There are 7 people, all over 50 (apart from one) who are all amateur walkers, going to walk a marathon (nearly) every day for seven days to raise £150k for the Motor Neurone Disease charities. Money has been raised so far, but we really really would appreciate one or two (or three) headline sponsors that would appreciate the exposure to our global community. We have famous people joining us for the walk (mainly ex pro sports people) and a massive Afterparty and auction when it's all over. There will be lots loads of national and regional TV and social coverage so you won't be left hanging in terms of exposure. The problem I have is that because we (they) are all local people, they are thinking local peoples minds and the sponsors coming in, whilst healthy, are local businesses. We *really* need a few heavyweight sponsors that have an affiliation with extreme endeavours, but also an altruistic outlook and would feel comfortable with aligning themselves to this kind of Herculean task. If you feel you represent that company, or even have a contact, please please reach out. I'm looking for essentially for the following... Male dominated brands, social and health brands, health drinks, footwear and outdoor, anti chafing, underwear, clothing brands, brands that can identify with how brilliant people can be and similar. Think 7 amateur Bear Ghrylls walking 150 more less in 7 days and identify your brand with that. And as it's for charity, you could probably write it off anyway :) In the words of Princess Leia... #MovingForward, Part 45, to the "International Day of Charity" last Tuesday: At the #MovingForward Challenge, the Berghof team showed full commitment together for a good cause.   It is the positive energy and the will to get better every day that unites and characterizes the Berghof team. This is precisely why Berghof's latest idea has also fallen on fertile ground: the #MovingForward Challenge.   In this Challenge, everyone from the Berghof team who has registered for it has recorded their activities over a period of six weeks via the Teamfit GmbH app on their cell phone.   However, this challenge was not just something for enthusiastic athletes. Because employees could earn points with any physical and mental activity that does them good mentally and physically. From a leisurely walk to a relaxing yoga session to a sweaty workout – there has been an activity to suit everyone's taste, because points could also be earned with everyday tasks such as housework or gardening.   Every step and every minute of activity have counted toward the total number of points. The common goal: at least 5 million points.   If, at the end of the day, more than 5 million points have been collected, Berghof will donate 2,000 euros to a charitable organization – well noted, in addition to the donations with which the company traditionally supports various organizations at Christmas.   Has the Berghof team achieved this common goal? As we gear up for our 5th charity ball, reflecting on the journey, we can't help but feel a renewed sense of purpose. This year, we're back stronger than ever. Traditionally, my charity challenges have been marked by rest, sleep-outs for the homeless, and wild adventures supporting organizations like Loros. However, this milestone year called for something extraordinary. Over a few brainstorming sessions with my dream team – the incredible charity cyclist Darren and the marathon man Kevin – we pondered over a challenge that would not only commemorate the occasion but also push our limits. The idea of a triathlon emerged, but seasoned Darren cautioned that it might not attract the attention we seek. Enter Kev, with his wisdom, suggesting a catchy name for the event – and so, the "Fiveathlon" challenge was born. Picture this: 5 half Ironmans 70.3 miles, in 5 diverse locations, spanning 5 consecutive days. It's not just a physical feat but a testament to the power of collaboration. We're not just running for ourselves – we're running for a cause. We are supporting our 3 finalists of charity of the year, STEPS, FOCUS and HEARTWIZE. These worthy charities fuels our motivation. My role in this endeavor? Well, according to my dream team, it's to get in shape – having never swam in open water and carrying a fair few extra pounds there’s some work to do and here's my public commitment to it. By sharing this, I'm hoping it becomes a source of motivation and accountability. But we can't do this alone. We're calling on our network, friends, and colleagues to join us for a leg of this journey and, more importantly, to support us in raising funds for these great charities. INDI to IBIZA 🌴 #EveryMileMatters Project Indi will embark on a challenge to move a distance of 1,477 miles – equivalent to the distance from The Indi Club to Ibiza Airport, in just ONE WEEK! The ultimate challenge will take place on April 20th to 26th, and we aim to collectively achieve our target through rowing, cycling, walking, or running. All funds raised will support Project Indi. Great insight

For those who know me reasonably well, you´ll know the cycling isn´t the greatest challenge here. I´m cycling to keep fit and because I simply like it. It's also an environmentally friendly mode of transportation. I wished I could cycle to work and home again more often, but with 110 miles each way, it´s been a once in the year effort in the past years.   However, I´m sure you´ll all agree the environment is something we could all do more to protect, whether it´s reducing CO2 emissions, help wild flora and fauna survive, help reduce sewage spills, or minimize microplastics in our oceans. We all read about floods here, and typhoons there, and other disasters. It´s all quite remote unless you´re in the middle of it, which fortunately most people are not, It´s thus easy to go about our daily lives, as we´ve done before, drive environmentally unfriendly cars and so on.   Like I, You may have noted the changes in your own immediate environment. Driving to work in the summer I notice that all the dead insects have disappeared from the windscreen. I notice I´m never seeing any wild animals about any longer, or very infrequently. The small deer on the British roads are almost always dead, and where´s all the squirrels and hedgehogs I used to see in my garden. They all seem to have disappeared.   Individually we can all do more for the environment, and we should. Cycle to work, put more refuse through to recycling, etc, but it’s only when governments and business makes the effort, we can accelerate change. After all, individually there only so much inconvenience we’ll accept. At Datapath we can ask our employees to inconvenience themselves and walk or cycle to work, or work from home, but the real change we can affect, perhaps by an order of magnitude or so, is by reducing the power consumption in the thousands of systems we sell, which typically operates 24/7 - 365 days a year. Likewise, if car and bus manufacturers make more fuel efficient and more electric vehicles, which we can charge at more places, the inconvenience is limited for the individual, and the rate of change for the benefit of the environment is greatly improved.   This is why advocacy for a better environment is so important. To combat misinformation, to effectively help politicians stand up for a better environment, to help drive stable, long term, consistent, environmental policies creating certainty for businesses that enables investments in better solutions for the environment.   This is why I’m helping raise money for Friends of the Earth.
