VISION DRIVER – Recognisable VDL Vision Futura belongs to the Futura family and incorporates recognisable design elements from previous generations. In addition, the vehicle is characterised by its own contemporary design. A clear design element is the recognisable Futura headlight. In terms of performance, the light output of the headlight has been significantly improved, resulting in even better visibility for the driver which can reduce fatigue and improves driver reaction time, especially when driving in dark conditions. The side indicator integrated in the headlight covers the category 6 indicator and eliminates the need for a separate side indicator. The flat shape of the headlight ensures that it continues to function optimally even in extreme winter conditions. The new headlight is a closed headlight which also enhances the vehicle’s aerodynamics!

Aerodynamically efficient vehicles are not always the prettiest 🌸 This can often cause friction between aerodynamic and design departments.💥 ➡️ An aerodynamicist's goal is to maximise performance ➡️ A designer's goal is to make the car as stylish as possible Interestingly, CFD has become an important communication tool to help aerodynamicists and designers collaborate more effectively. Multicoloured CFD plots and animations help to visualise how styling changes can affect aerodynamic performance, whilst also highlighting the areas that are not aerodynamically-sensitive. 🌈 💬 "At a previous company, I was involved in a project that had a Cd of over 0.3. At the time, the relationship between the aero and styling departments was strained. After using CFD to explain the aerodynamic benefits, by the end of the project we managed to get the Cd down to 0.25.
