I help people save construction cost, finish construction projects on time and estimate construction cost. A Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager who is passionate about Artificial intelligence and Climate Change
Density of steel per meter: Y 10= 0.62kg Y12 = 0.888kg Y16 = 1.58kg Y20 = 2.469 kg Y25 = 3.858kg Y32 = 6.321 kg Note that each steel reinforcement is 12 meters long. You can use this to quickly get the number you expect in a tonne of each.

How do you take the weight in Kg of the steel tube 150 x 150 x 12 mm Square tube of Length 60 meter ? 🤔Option 1 ⤵️Volume Based Method Weight=Volume×Density of Steel The density of steel is generally taken as 7850 kg/m3 Steel volume = Outer volume - Inner volume Outer volume = Outer side length^2 x Length = 0.15^2 x 60 = 1.35 m^3 Inner dimensions: 150 mm - 2(12 mm) = 126 mm (since the tube has walls on both sides) Inner volume = Inner side length^2 x Length = 0.126^2 X 60 = 0.95 M^3 Steel volume = Outer volume - Inner volume = 1.35 - 0.95 = 0.4 m^3 Density of steel = 7850 kg/m^3 ❓Weight = Steel volume x Density of steel = 0.4 x 7850 = 3140 kg 🤔Option 2 ⤵️Perimeter based method Imagine we cut the steel pipe and open it to one sheet. Volume = Length x Breadth x Thickness = (4 x 0.15) x 60 x .012 = 0.43 m^3 ❓Weight = volume x density = 0.43 x 7850 = 3375.5 kg Which method would you chose and why ?
