🔥 Hot take: The user is actually *not* the weakest link in cybersecurity. "If an employee clicking on an email causes your company to be compromised, that is a failure of controls, not a failure of the employee," said Jon Densmore, CISO for First Mutual Holding Co. "Employees just need to do their jobs, and for a lot of them, opening attachments and clicking on a link is part of their job. So you need to have controls in place to enable them to do their job without blaming the employee." Learn how Jon avoids playing the blame game by establishing a security baseline at the financial firm in this week's (FIRE) episode of Speed Data! ⤵️ 📺 YOUTUBE - https://hubs.ly/Q02FRrwH0

Is organization’s cybersecurity vision the CISO’s or the business’ business? That’s one of the topics I’m listening to right now, a presentation about creating organization’s cybersecurity vision. Drawn from my field experience, it’s the business’. The CISO is an advisor, as, again, cybersecurity vision—and strategy—are business issues, starting from the fact that security needs to be a business enabler to justify its existence. It doesn’t bring in money in a random organization, except funny money; it’s a cost center, not a profit center, no matter how you play it. The security guys are usually seen as the armed forces of the organization, but in reality, we are more like the in-house lawyers, providing advices that either are taken or not, and waking up those who fell asleep. Thoughts? For, against, other? #cybersecurityexe #cybersecurityexecutive2024

Members of our Cybersecurity Advisory Council represent some of the most engaged and mature organizations in the industry. In this session, it's YOUR turn to ask the questions. We'll answer. Anything is fair game: internal security strategies, pricing & packaging, conversations with clients, incident response planning and anything in between. Ask us [Almost] Anything.
