Thank you to Eric Topol, MD for his outstanding contribution to the field of medicine and public health. For all of you anti-vaxxers and people who demonize public health professionals and research scientists such as Peter Hotez MD PhD, I suggest you get your act together and start listening to Dr Topol and Dr. Hotez. #LongCOVID is nothing you want to mess around with. You can become permanently disabled and unemployable for the rest of your life if you have a severe case of this poorly understood debilitating post viral syndrome. By the way, those who are unvaccinated have a greater risk of contracting this disease process, and anyone of any age can acquire this even with a mild infection. Thank you to imminobiologist Akiko Iwasaki for her outstanding contribution to understanding this multi-factorial debilitating disease process for which there is currently no cure or effective treatments to reduce the pain and suffering experienced by those who struggle with severe clinical disease. At TGen, we are working to learn about cancer from different perspectives to help us solve the problem of finding a cure. Floris Barthel, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor, is working to dissect the role of the telomere - the end portion of a #chromosome - in #brain cells. He uses high-throughput sequencing and computational analysis to see if there are mutational signatures that can provide a picture of what is happening in growing #cancer cells.
