Enhancing Non-Kinetic Capabilities in Military Operations is crucial for effective defense. Senior US Navy officials highlight the need to integrate non-kinetic capabilities such as cyber, electromagnetic spectrum, and space-based tools to bridge the gap between traditional kinetic weapons and the less understood non-kinetic capabilities. Building expertise and liaisons to educate leaders about available options is essential for command organizations. From carrier strike groups to headquarters, understanding the full range of capabilities is key. #MilitaryTech #NonKineticCapabilities #CyberWarfare #SpaceTech #DefenseInnovation

There is a TON in this article. Maybe the top for me was the Air Force is bringing back warrant officers? Wow! "The Air Force will create a new Warrant Officer track for highly skilled IT and cyber talent, enabling those Airmen to not only be paid competitively, but to choose a career path that enables them to focus exclusively on their specialties, bypassing the typical officer leadership track." Also, we're another step closer to a Cyber Force: "Cyber and electronic warfare will be elevated—what is today’s 16th Air Force, the information warfare arm of Air Combat Command, will be elevated to Air Forces Cyber, reporting directly to the Chief and Secretary with responsibility for operational cyber, information, and electronic warfare. It will continue to be led by a three-star general as it is today, but its rise to direct-reporting status suggests added stature and visibility." Full article: https://lnkd.in/eQAcjMbY

The Navy has built a concept for specialized teams delivering non-kinetic effects in the fleet, and there’s a plan to develop more within the next two years. The term “non-kinetic effects,” in Pentagon parlance, generally refers to capabilities that don’t blow up or explode such as cyber, electromagnetic spectrum, or space-based tools. They have come into sharper focus in recent years and the U.S. military has sought ways to expand their use and integration as a complement to more traditional weapon systems. https://hubs.li/Q02m82wg0

The Devil will absolutely be in the details, but having a Major Command dedicated to cyber/ISR/Info Warfare is a long needed step by the USAF in my opinion. The USAF isn't giving details, so it isn't clear if the new MAJCOM will have just cyber and Air Combat Command will retain ISR and info warfare or if it will encorporate all three. Location for the new HQ will be a massive fight also. 16th AF is in San Antonio, but should the MAJCOM move there? The Army have always had their key cyber organizations based in the National Capital Region. Should the Air Force do the same? Thoughts anyone? #usairforce
