Making ZLD Reality: We are pleased to present a video case study of WABAG's Centralized Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Plant, designed and executed for NMDC Steel Ltd. in Nagarnar. This advanced facility, with a capacity of 180 m³/h, leverages cutting-edge Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis technologies to efficiently manage steel production effluents. The ZLD plant achieves an impressive 90% overall efficiency through a multi-stage process, ensuring wastewater-free production. By recycling and reusing treated effluent as makeup cooling water, a closed water circuit is created, aligning perfectly with sustainable development goals. The plant handles wastewater from 15 different sources, including high TDS streams, demonstrating its versatility and robustness. As one of the largest centralized ZLD facilities in the Indian Steel Industry, this project underscores WABAG's commitment to sustainability and innovation. #NMDC #ZeroLiquidDischarge #ZLD #WaterTreatment #Steelindustry #WaterIndustry #WaterSector #SDG #ESG #Water #Sanitation #Sustainability #Wabag100 #WABAG #Passioneering

It has been a great pleasure to play a significant role in another environmentally friendly initiative by Lanka AAC Pvt Ltd. The installation of a ball mill process line for grinding bottom ash is a crucial step in managing the bottom ash obtained from the Norochcholai Lakvijaya coal power plant. This plant has a significant amount of land allocated to the disposal of ash, spanning over 20 acres. The disposal of ash in such a manner has led to various environmental issues, including leachate seepage into the water table and dust emissions. Additionally, the floating ash particles have had a substantial impact on adjacent farmlands where crops such as cabbage, beetroot, pomegranate, and dumkola are cultivated. Being involved in the management, supervision, and implementation of the process line design, installation, and commissioning has been a source of great satisfaction. This undertaking represents a valuable opportunity to mitigate the environmental impact of the disposal of bottom ash while harnessing it for the production of AAC blocks, thus effectively utilizing a by-product of electricity generation. #aacblocks #greenproducts #environmentalsustainability #lankaaac #accessengineering #civilengineering

Successful completion of our latest project, the desludging of WWTP via Geotube at Gurun Plant, Kedah. Geotube sludge dewatering technology is a method of removing water from sludge (a mixture of solid and liquid waste) using large, fabric tubes called geotubes. They are made of polypropylene, a synthetic material that is strong and resistant to chemicals. The geotubes are filled with sludge and then compressed by pumps or gravity. The water in the sludge passes through the pores of the fabric, while the solids are trapped inside. The water can be collected and treated, while the solids can be disposed of or reused. Geotube sludge dewatering technology is a low-cost, efficient, and environmentally friendly solution for various applications, such as municipal wastewater treatment, industrial waste management, mining, agriculture, and coastal protection. A huge shoutout to our dedicated team whose hard work and expertise made this achievement possible! #IOSV #Desludging #WWTP #Sustainability #Geotube #WasteManagement #OperationalExcellence

Scaling UP Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM) in Uttar Pradesh Faecal sludge treatment plants (FSTPs) and co-treatment plants are effective ways for safely managing faecal sludge and septage in nonsewered areas. While many states in India are adapting these solutions, scaling up of affordable and inclusive FSSM requires a long-term strategy for construction, operationalisation and sustainability. Uttar Pradesh (UP) started its FSSM journey with three plants: Jhansi, Bijnor and Chunar. Today, the state has 59 plants across 56 cities – 39 are FSTPs, and 20 are co-treatment plants. The state government wants to operationalise the plants in 2023-24, and is trying to deal with the challenges that are cropping up. Availability of sludge at the treatment plant is a critical challenge for sustainability of plant operation. Providing desludging services in unplanned settlements having narrow lanes poses another major challenge. Centre for Science and Envi…
