Congratulations to the six new Foreign Agricultural Service officers on your entry into the Foreign Service! The FAS role and mission has a major impact, opening markets for U.S. agriculture while benefiting global consumers and bolstering U.S. prosperity. As a fellow Foreign Service officer from the Commerce Department, I recognize the vital role FAS plays. This career is rewarding for many reasons, including knowing that your efforts are essential to promoting U.S. trade and advancing our nation's interests abroad. Welcome to the trade promotion team. These are the unsung heroes of development. The work FAS does builds bridges between countries and is America at its best. Communities thrive when they have better nutrition and access to sustainable crops or credit. Congratulations to all on your new roles.

With Admiration, I have always wanted to understand more about how one becomes an ambassador for agriculture to other nations. What an opportunity to grow and learn from your colleagues, as well as other cultures and societies and their resource allocations and needs. 😃
