Did you know that women are responsible for roughly half of the world’s food production? 🌎🌾 All eyes are on the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026 👩🌾 as USDA Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres-Small and Under Secretary Alexis Taylor championed the initiative at last week's launch event. Alongside the United Nations, this U.S. sponsored resolution gives the global community a chance to highlight and celebrate the vital role women play in ensuring global food security. Presenting an unprecedented opportunity to underscore and address the myriad social and economic challenges that women in agriculture face worldwide, the #IYWF2026 launch event kicked off efforts alongside more than 1,000 guests ready to answer the Call to Action. 📣 Read more about the event and #IYWF2026 from the Deputy Secretary and the Under Secretary here: https://lnkd.in/enGRtrpf

Thank you @WorldFoodPrize for hosting a wonderful #DialogueNEXTdc. It was a pleasure to join this amazing group of women-entrepreneurs, advocates & scientists-to talk about how when women have access to the tools they need to reach their full potential in the food space, everyone wins. At @FeedtheFuture and @USAID, we are working to empower women in agrifood systems and are on track to meet our Generating Resilience & Opportunities in Agriculture (GROW) commitment, which will double our investments in women in food and water security to $335 million per year. As part of our GROW agenda, we want to better understand what we need to do differently to get better results. We just completed an Improved Activity Cost-Effectiveness (ImpAct) Review to identify the most effective interventions for women’s agricultural income. One topline take away is that simply adding women to programs without considering gender-specific constraints risks promoting irrelevant or unprofitable agricultural technologies, and can actually exacerbate the gender productivity gap. “Investing in women” cannot mean just reaching them with “business as usual” programming. We need to design with and for women, addressing their unique opportunities and constraints. That doesn’t mean that we do that exclusively. In addition, promising practice includes household and community dialogues that engage men and boys to discuss more gender equitable intra-household decisionmaking and the potential win-wins of changing norms. Evidence tells such shifts have the potential to influence both income and women’s influence on how that income will be used. We know - and the evidence bears out - that when women benefit, everyone benefits - households, communities and entire nations. Two “must reads” are FAO’s recent reports, The Status of Women in Agrifood Systems and The Unjust Climate - which framed our important #DialogueNextdc discussion.

Today is International Women's Day, and in light of this we would like to emphasise and celebrate the important role of women small-hold farmers worldwide. They are key contributors and play a vital role in the transition toward a resilient food production system that has the capacity to feed a continuously growing population. Once they are provided with access to innovative technologies, they can produce more food, without adding stress to water resources or the environment. But they need a kickstart to get this access and make the transition. At Spowdi, we aim to enable these women small-hold farmers to become the true impact generators that they can be. #internationalwomensday #smallholdfarmers

3wVery great attempt . As a scientist who has been working for the last 40 years....always promoted Women empowerment through my innovation. Especially for developing countries... I proposed a beautiful insect cleaning machine for women at farm level especially in the context of organic grains production and storage.of organically produced rice,Dhal, wheat,(all are basic food security in India) But non takers so far..... No organisation came for support ..for this women empowerment through Green technologies so far. I am optimistic...one day....... In this context I appreciate this effort of USDA Dr.S.Mohan Specialist in Stored product insect monitoring and management through Green Gadgets www.mohantrap.com
