Today is about remembering. We remember those who fought and died in battles won and lost. We remember those who died in the fog of war. We remember those we made it home and those who never saw home again. Today is about remembering those service members who are no longer here to tell their story. These brave men and women didn’t always die in combat, but they have always died warriors. It is our responsibility to tell their stories. It is our duty to listen when their stories are being told. We need to speak about their lives and deaths. It is our duty to speak their names and never forget. #MemorialDay

This is the beginning of my documentary journey and creation of RAW Realities… I started this project a year ago by reaching out to Craig, for those who don’t know, he’s a Veteran who served in the British Army for 23 years as a Sniper. He completed 10 tours in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. His book ‘The Longest Kill’ told the most unimaginable story including personal details of his first kill, longest kill as well as his struggles with PTSD. After reading his book, I could almost hear the little voice in my head saying, “you need to film this”. So, whilst facing the almost certain likelihood he would never reply, I contacted him and straight out asked “can I film you?” After giving a little more context to my questionably seedy request… he agreed. In creating this documentary, my objective was to reveal the untold aspects of the challenges our courageous soldiers face and how it continues to shape their lives today. I sincerely hope that this film reaches those who need it the most. If you’re reading this - thank you for sticking with me, I’m incredibly excited to share this next journey alongside you all. If you or anyone you know is struggling with their mental health, remember it’s essential to talk to someone. You don’t have to suffer in silence. #craigharrison #sniper #ptsd #ptsdawareness #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #health #documentary #director #motivation #war #military #armylife #army #rawrealitiesdoc

As we go into Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully enjoying some time with our friends and families enjoying a burger or hot dog. Just make sure remember the reason for the freedoms that we have. Here's some ground rules for this coming weekend: 1. Don't wish a Veteran a Happy Memorial day. There is nothing happy about brave men and women dying. Be happy to enjoy the freedoms they provided you. 2. It's not a holiday. It's a remembrance of those who died in combat 3. If you want to BBQ, grill or cookout do so.. but make sure you remember why we have this long weekend. Tell your kids why it's important. 4. Remember its not just about the "hero's" of movie and book fame, it's also about that Private who landed at Normandy, Baghdad, Vietnam, Korea or countless other battlefields large and small and died 2 minutes into his first combat action. 5. If you want to know the true meaning, visit Arlington or your local VA cemetery. Learn the story of why there are coins on the graves. 6. Patriotism is a great thing, show a flag in remembrance, but make sure its a flag of the US not some political movement (BLM, Blue stripe, Rebel flag etc). 7. Don't tell me how you almost joined, this is not about you (or me). Talk about Chesty Puller, George Patton, John Basilone, Dakota Meyer, Kyle Carpenter, Mitchell Paige, Ira Hayes, Chris Kyle and any other heroes too numerous to name. 8. Don't tell me I don't know what I am talking about. I have remembrances, and the burden, all too many times for warriors who now stand their post in front of God and history. 9. Say a prayer... and then another. 10. Remember the Fallen for all the Good they did while they were here. 11. Reach out and let a Vet know you're there, we're losing too many in "peace time".

𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙨: 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙒𝙖𝙧 When we are not in it personally, the loss just comes in numbers. X number of people died, Y number of people got displaced from their houses, Z number of people lost families and many other numbers. But are we really capable of measuring the cost of war, and who ends up paying for it? War has a extreme toll on humanity, and its price extends far beyond the immediate destruction and loss of life. It leaves broken societies and psychological scars for many future generations. We leave one more example to handle a conflict situation. The physical and emotional trauma cannot be measured for grief of losing loved ones. The price of war is not just paid in the lives and resources, it is also a debt owed in the form of human suffering that endures long after the war has ended. Couple of questions to think about: ❓While the humans have evolved so much, are we now capable of resolving conflicts without going to battlefield? ❓What would you do differently if you were in the role of authority? #priceofwar #conflicts

SME Growth Partner & Investor | I work with SMEs to create resilient, profitable, sustainable growth through strategic partnerships, alliances and M&A without the financial strain | UQ MBA
As a business owner, you don't need to be a supporter of #freepalestine or its ongoing 70yr colonisation to appreciate the wisdom of this wise man. It takes nerves of steel and strong conviction to run a small and medium enterprise. Make no mistake. There will be attempts to destroy or displace you and it will be your fault if you give in to the stronger / larger competitor because history is full of stories of the smaller, weaker taking on and beating the bigger and stronger at their own both in military and business. Dig your heals. Ignore the naysayers and accusers. accept that you will lose battles, but focus on winning the long war. Your family, staff, suppliers and loyal clients are depending on you.

Good news, bad news. Bad news first: #Veterans die by suicide at a rate twice as much as the general public. It’s an ongoing crisis that impacts nearly every community, including here in Northeast Florida. Good news: a community-based approach is making a difference. For the 3rd straight year, Veteran suicides in Northeast Florida were once again more than 25% below 2019 numbers. That far outpaces civilians here and throughout the state. A big reason why? The community is recognizing the warning signs and getting vets the help they need. Do your good deed for the day and take 30 minutes to take this free training from The Fire Watch. It could save a life.
With the release of our Annual Report, we’d like to thank ALL Watch Standers for getting #veterans to the help they need! In Northeast Florida, Veteran suicides decreased 25% below our 2019 baseline year for the 3rd straight year. Across all areas of #Florida where our Watch Standers are located, Veteran suicides decreased by 16% – in areas where they aren’t, Veteran suicides actually increased by 8%. 2024 Annual Report: https://lnkd.in/enuTsfJi Official Press Release: https://lnkd.in/eC2z3w8q #YourTurnToStand #VeteranSuicide #VeteranSuicideAwareness
