World Health Organization ‘Strategy for optimizing national routine health information systems (RHIS)’ was developed to further support countries in their efforts to optimize their RHIS. 📌 The strategy enables the monitoring and delivery of Health Care Services, especially Primary Health Care (PHC). 📌 The strategy proposes principles for integrated, interoperable, evidence-informed, aligned and partnership-based RHIS through five strategic goals with measurable interventions. 📌 The strategy outlines a vision, supported by strategic goals, guiding principles, specific objectives and key interventions to improve health data collection, reporting, analyses and use at national, subnational and community levels. The World Health Organization (WHO) will release a special issue of the Bulletin of the World Health Organization in October 2024. The release of the issue, 'From Evidence to Impact: Reflecting on 75 Years of WHO's Normative Leadership and Shaping the Future of Global Health', is set to coincide with #WorldEBHCDay, an initiative spearheaded by JBI. WHO has issued a call for papers to help establish the impact of WHO’s normative and standard-setting functions. In particular, the call for papers encourages contributions offering fresh country-level perspectives and innovative yet pragmatic proposals to strengthen WHO's role in delivering guidance and normative leadership. It is this time of the year again when member states meet to take stock and ponder on how to ensure the health and wellbeing of their citizens. The 77th Health Assembly runs May 27-June 1, 2024 | Palais des Nations | Geneva, Switzerland. This year's theme of the Health Assembly is: "A world mobilized for health, health for everyone". Participants in the World Health Assembly include Member States, Associate Members, observers, invited representatives of the United Nations and other intergovernmental organizations and non-State actors. The 77th World Health Assembly will be streamed live on the event's webpage in several UN languages: https://lnkd.in/db9kGt_z. One key expected decision by member states that was triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic is the approval of the pandemic agreement. Over the last 2 years, months, weeks and days member states have been combing through the agreement word by word to decide a binding pact to protect all citizens of the world. This has not been a simple exercise, it is the first ever process to develop a proposed agreement on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. All member states recognize that great collaboration and coordination are needed in the face of pandemics. While negotiations have been challenging at times, all countries agree that the world must be better prepared for the next pandemic.

World Health Organisation (WHO) is launching a public consultation on draft guidance for best practices in clinical trials. This is now published (please see attached document) for public consultation with the 15th of September as a deadline for input. You can provide your comments here https://lnkd.in/dg9FaDbs. The draft guidance has been developed in line with resolution WHA75.8. What is WHA75.8? This is a resolution, presented at World Health Assembly 75. The document recalls previous resolutions and emphasises the importance of high-quality, ethical research for global health goals. It recognises the vital role of clinical trials in evaluating health interventions' safety and efficacy. The resolution highlights the need for  ➡ diverse trial settings,  ➡  international collaboration,  ➡  transparency, and  ➡  sharing of results. It calls on strengthening national clinical trial capabilities, promoting equity in trial capability, and encouraging well-designed trials. #healthcare #clinicalresearch #community

😷 The #COVID19 pandemic has brought into the limelight the need to strengthen #evidence ecosystems to improve countries’ resilience to #health crises. Creating dedicated governance structures for agile knowledge translation processes is however complex and little guidance is available to support countries in this endeavour. ☑️ This #ICP2023 #collaboration project aims to pilot the application of a new #WHO guidance which assists countries in institutionalising their evidence-informed #policy-making processes.
