Just wrapped up a call with a #VPAccounting contact at a #newclient of ours, where we recently placed a #SeniorAccountant on their team. They shared that prior to working with us, they had been putting off recruiting for the role, as they were completely swamped. Like many first-time clients, they had initially held off on using #recruitment agencies as an aim to save money and had been hoping to fill the role internally. However, working with us proved to be “money well spent” as we were able to #search, identify and secure the right person to join their team and serve as an effective liaison between the candidate/firm and ensure a streamlined process including background checks, references etc. The candidate is now 1 month into their new role and has fit in seamlessly with the team, adding value through their previous work experience and has been an overall great hire. We love to hear this feedback from our clients – and is a story we hear often! We appreciate the interest in saving money by avoiding recruitment fees, but the reality is - it can cost your business MORE money by leaving a role vacant for too long. If you’re looking to #hire for your team and interested in learning more about our process and the services we provide – please reach out! CEO, First Water Finance // Head of Learning & Development, The CFO Alliance // Author, Relational Finance
I'm not sure which I get more of: 1) phishing attempts asking to confirm wires, update passwords, or provide information for a package delivery; or, 2) emails from recruiters who see we have positions listed on LinkedIn and they have candidates that they would love to show us. I do know that only one of the two are getting more sophisticated. Recruiters are historically awful at FP&A roles. More to come as we lay it bare in detail. However, the team at The CFO Alliance is a beacon of finance and accounting light in a sea of commoditization. Hint: it helps to have data benchmarking from a community of finance leaders around their biggest capability needs and gaps, and having a team of actual finance professionals involved in the effort dramatically reducing candidate failure through better scoping and vetting. We're also recruiting across all levels in FP&A, see them on LinkedIn and on our website: https://lnkd.in/gmYD4Zh2 And watch out on those emails!

This morning, I read an article about Citigroup's inability to hire a compliance professional, which ended up costing the company $100 million. Despite their efforts, the bank struggled to fill the position for over a year (!!) Here are some personal stories that emphasise the importance of swift and decisive hiring practices: It’s not uncommon to see the same vacancies open for months or even years, whether in Australia, Canada, Russia, or elsewhere. Despite seeking assistance from recruiters, I wasn't seeing the progress I needed. As the CFO, responsible for the finance, legal, and accounting teams, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I personally reviewed 200-300 CVs manually for each position and conducted two rounds of interviews (online and in-person) for the 5 shortlisted candidates per role. No take-home tests or personality assessments. The results? In just two months, we successfully filled the following 7 positions: - Four lawyers (1 in international law 3 in domestic law) - Deputy CFO - Finance Manager - Financial Controller I'm proud to say that all of them are a great match and stayed in the company. Additionally, in a previous role as the head of internal audit at a different company, I hired a team of four internal auditors who now have over 10 years of tenure with that same company. This experience has reinforced my belief that swift, decisive action and the active involvement of the hiring manager can significantly improve hiring outcomes. If you're struggling with prolonged vacancies, it might be time to rethink your approach. #HiringSuccess #Recruitment #FastHiring #HR #JobMarket #Leadership #Efficiency #TalentAcquisition

5moA GS14 inside the Beltway will be working with the FBI, and maybe the CIA, to track people who are illegally siphoning money into activities that could be more nefarious than hiding money from your spouse, live in boy/girlfriend.or your associates. Money laundering, basically. Since anyone can accuse anyone, the presumption of innocence requires protecting the identifying information of persons of interest. If you want to think it is some kid fresh out of college bird dogging rich people engaging in Constitutionally protected activity, you would be mistaken. This is a, "high trust," position, so they will likely be flying a desk for a good year before they get any serious responsibility. Leave the speculation about how, "government needs to be run like a business," to people who run businesses with a market size of 330 million people, any of whom could trigger a serious financial or procedural audit at any time. Go ahead. I'll wait.
