The infrastructure of your home during your elder years can extend your ability to live safely and independently or hasten your need for additional care. If your plan is to move to a senior community, some of those concerns will already be addressed, such as wider door ways, grab bars, and single level living. If you intend to stay in your current home as long as possible, consider consulting with an expert in retrofitting homes for aging in place. Someone with that expertise can view your home impartially and identify dangers you may be blind to.
