Happy 4th of July from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers! Today, we celebrate freedom, unity, and the hard work that built our nation. Enjoy the fireworks and festivities safely! As a reminder, fireworks are not allowed on any U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-managed lands.   Based on federal regulations, possession of explosives or explosive devices of any kind, including fireworks or other pyrotechnics, is prohibited unless written permission has been received from the District Commander. Fireworks can be an explicit danger to the surrounding public, wildlife, and habitat so please check with your local city, county and state governments to find a permissible location for using fireworks.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is the recipient of the National Academy of Construction’s 2024 Recognition of Special Achievement Award for their work on the Isabella Dam Safety Modification Project at Isabella Lake. “The NAC is thrilled to select the Isabella Dam Safety Modification Project for our third annual Recognition of Special Achievement Award,” announced NAC President and CEO Edd Gibson in a press release. “This award highlights and celebrates innovation, safety, and resourcefulness in planning and solving design challenges among international practitioners in the engineering, design, and construction industries, and the Sacramento District’s project delivery team at Isabella Dam rose to top of this year’s nominees by excelling in all areas judged.” Continue reading: https://lnkd.in/gaNwDdGQ

Today USACE will hold the first of two Virtual Information Session to learn about the Report to Congress on Future Water Resources. The information sessions will discuss the open Federal Register notice that invites non-federal agencies to submit proposals for projects to be considered for the report. Proposals can be for feasibility studies, water resources development projects, and programmatic modifications to environmental infrastructure assistance programs that need congressional authorization. The session will also discuss the criteria that proposals must meet to be included in the 2025 Annual Report to Congress. The deadline for proposal submission to be considered for the 2025 Report is August 30, 2024.
