UUSA hosted a kickoff to summer event on-site, Café Karaoke, on Friday, June 28 with fun giveaways, Free Food for employees, and some great vocal talent on display. In addition, UUSA provided an opportunity for personnel to donate to the Community Foundation of Lincoln County (CFLC), an organization supporting a neighboring community of Ruidoso, New Mexico experiencing devastating wildfires. UUSA pledged to match employee donations dollar for dollar to support the families and their pets/livestock who were forced to evacuate due to the South Fork and Salt Fires that have torn through over 24,000 acres of land. Thanks to the great generosity of personnel, $6,000 was raised and donated to help the Village of Ruidoso. Future Free Food Fridays will have similar opportunities to donate goods and/or funds to support local non-profits and initiatives in our community. #UUSA #COMMUNITY

Here is how you can help
Mahalo nui to all my friends that have asked how you can help the people of Maui. 1. I sit on the board of the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) and they have secured more than a million dollars of matching funds. If you give to them your gift could be doubled and they will be careful about ensuring the funds are distributed where needed most. 2. I also work with Kuuleinani Maunupau and offer this link to a hui of Maui based, established nonprofits (Maui Mixer) that have created a fund as well, Native Hawaiians in Philanthropy. 3. Hawaii Community Foundation has a major campaign called the Maui Strong Fund. Their site says that so far they have raised $17M and deployed nearly$2M already in nonprofit grants. All of these offer 501c3 giving options, and all are run by Native Hawaiian leaders seasoned in caring for Hawaii communities and managing charitable funds.

Decluttering your home should not be a one-person job. It's time we get the kids involved in downsizing some extra stuffies and making it fun to keep a clean and organized space. We have tons of tips on making tidying up easy for kids. Part of our mission is to know no waste and donate unwanted or unneeded items to local non-profits, ensuring all items go to a deserving home. Did you know that most canine police units accept donations for their brave dogs who have experienced a traumatic event? Pro tip: make a monthly or annual trip to your local police station and let the kids see that their stuffed animals are going to dogs who are scared and need a new buddy. This week on the blog, we talk about how you can get your kids involved with staying organized and encouraging them to let go of unneeded toys in a fun and exciting donation process. https://lnkd.in/eVhCnHYW

Friends from other countries, I'm going to use this channel to ask you to help more than 1 million people impacted by the flood that destroyed (and continues to destroy) a large part of our beloved state, Rio Grande do Sul, the one located in the far south of Brazil. Many needy families have lost everything and will find it very difficult to rebuild their lives. Not to mention that many cities will have to be completely rebuilt. Help by donating any amount to the Vakinha Institute, a reputable institution that is raising the most money in the region and quickly sharing it with charities. Here is the campaign website: https://lnkd.in/dvDZhPYc Here are the channels for donating via Stripe: For 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬 - 𝐔𝐒𝐃, please go to https://lnkd.in/dGesp-pA For 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 - GBP, please go to https://lnkd.in/dfF6WQxq For 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐨 - 𝐄𝐔𝐑, please go to https://lnkd.in/dyrGzubE

If you've been wondering how you can support those affected by the fires in Maui, please read below and consider donating!
Friends & Colleagues, In the wake of the Maui fires, Thank You to all of you who have reached out to check on me and my family in Maui. We evacuated our home in Kula on Tues. evening when the Upcountry fire approached our neighborhood. Fortunately, our house is safe. After power was restored we were able to return to our home. If you've seen the images on the news, the level of devastation and loss is staggering. It's unlike anything Maui or Hawaii has ever seen. I am so grateful to all the first responders, relief organizations, donors and everyday citizens that have mobilized to support the people of Maui. We will never be able to thank you for all you are doing for our island home in this moment. Many of you have asked how to help. If you are able, I'd recommend donating to the Hawai'i Community Foundation's Maui Strong Fund: https://lnkd.in/gENeTwCH (If you work at a company with an employee matching program, give there so your company can match your donation.) If you've ever visited our island, taken in a sunset, snorkeled Molokini, enjoyed a shave ice under the banyan tree in Lahaina...Maui needs your support now more than ever. Mahalo for your support!
