Most companies still view the CFO role as a pure financial role. In a VUCA world, this would be detrimental to the organisation. A CFO is primarily a strategist moderated with real world operational experience and an effective business partner. Organisations should realise that the 'accountant' will soon be a thing of the past as rule driven accounting standards will automate the preparation of financial statements. This leaves the finance staff time to effectively use data and AI tools to forecast and model strategies. I would add one more trait to the below 8: the need for the CFO to be a data evangelist and be data driven.
