"Yesterday, we held our Annual Meet to celebrate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. From hosting my first DEI session with Amardeep Devadason in January to now being recognized as the DEI champion by him in December, it's been quite a journey for me. I learned a lot from my DEI colleagues during the meeting and gained valuable insights. Sundari Sivasubbu highlighted the importance of accessibility and stressed the need to ensure that every team member feels included and valued. This is crucial in creating a sense of belonging and promoting equity within the organization. Furthermore, Arun Prasad Varma's eloquent examples of the frog and the honeybee must have been very insightful. He highlighted the value of underrepresented individuals within organizations, emphasizing that they are the backbone of an organization and should be recognized as such. This is important because these individuals play a crucial role in driving the organization's success, even if their contributions may not always be recognized. As we look ahead to 2024, we are setting our sights higher and focusing more on Culture and Diversity, Generation and Gender Equality, Ability, as well as other salient areas. I express my deep gratitude to Mujeebur Rahman for his guidance and for teaching me all that I have learned from the outset. Together, we are constructing an inclusive space in which every voice is heard and valued. On International Women’s Day we celebrate inclusion and inspiration. HPSC’s Business Operations Manager, Jackie Fitzgerald, reflected on how everyone should feel they have a place and are welcome in any workforce they enter. Redefining Women's Struggle for Equality: A Human-Centric Approach In an era that spotlights Women in Leadership, it's crucial to recognize the challenges women often encounter in what is perceived as a male-dominated professional landscape. However, my philosophy diverges from the conventional narrative that emphasizes a struggle for equality. I believe in empowering women, not by aligning with the conventional discourse of gender equality but by transcending it. My perspective is rooted in the belief that we must shift away from the notion that we exist in a "man's world." This is not a battle of the sexes; it is a journey of humanity. Our efforts should be channeled towards empowering all individuals to contribute to the greater good, rather than fighting for a place at the proverbial table. We are not outsiders striving to fit in; we as women are already integral members of this diverse and multifaceted world. The essence of my message is that we should not be in competition with men, nor should we be competing with our fellow women. We are not merely equals to men, just as we are not equal to another woman. We are each distinct, bringing our own unique strengths, talents and value to a world brimming with opportunities. Our focus should be on complementing each other's strengths, not trying to compete on an uneven playing field. The only competition we should be in is the one with ourselves. When we pursue personal growth and strive each day to evolve into the highest version of ourselves, we become catalysts for positive change in others, creating a virtuous cycle where the advancement of one contributes to the elevation of all. International Women’s Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness about gender equality and women’s rights. This year’s theme 'Inspire Inclusion' aims to promote a world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where difference is valued and celebrated. The goal is to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women. With this in mind, the Kodak Alaris Global Inclusion Committee recently shared with all colleagues our renewed commitment and common theme of ‘Inspire Inclusion’ for all DE & I initiatives starting in the new fiscal year.   In light of this year’s theme, we can all take action, not only to drive gender parity and celebrate women’s achievements, but also to raise awareness about any discrimination, and inspire inclusion for all. Our key message throughout the year will be that no matter what ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, or disability or any other aspect of your identity, our intention is to continue to raise awareness and create an environment that is free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. We distinguish ourselves from other tech companies by having a larger female representation. Particularly in the development team, where we have more women than men - a fact that many companies can only aspire to achieve! International Women’s Day is an important reminder of the need for strong female role models in tech and our society. Those role models stand as living proof that gender equality and inclusion in tech, and in all sectors of the world, are not just ideals but necessities. Inclusion brings about a diversity of knowledge and skills, which in turn fosters a broader understanding on the world around us.
