#GNSS denial can happen anywhere, even on the open water. Interference from nearby equipment with RF noise, loss of line-of-sight to satellites or intentional jamming are risks to a vesselโs GNSS positioning solution. How do you protect your operations? Join Inside GNSS, Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning division and the Nasjonal kommunikasjonsmyndighet (Nkom) for their #webinar, "Enhanced GNSS Jamming & Spoofing Resilience." Experts will discuss interference classification and detection, real-world examples from the Norwegian #jamming and #spoofing test trials, and #antispoofing protection >> https://hxgn.biz/4agzA4w #antijam #antispoof #jammertrials #NorwayJammerTrials

C5 portfolio company Satelles's PNT solution is featured in a Inside GNSS article, which highlights that A-PNT platforms have been proven as a viable alternative to GNSS by The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. "Satelles is a U.S.-based PNT service provider, offering proprietary STL signal transmitted via the Iridium LEO constellation. During JRC testing, they demonstrated timing and position capacity and the possibility of operating both outdoors and indoors. The Satelles infrastructure consists of space (owned by Iridium), ground control (partially shared with Iridium) and user segment. There is no intermediate need for further infrastructure deployment to use the service." Satelles is protecting critical infrastructure by complementing and augmenting GPS/GNSS with alternative PNT. https://lnkd.in/eW_YTWJt

#Galileo #GPS #spoofing #osnma Spoofing of GNSS signals can be detected by receiver-based methods like dual-antenna systems or by using the new Galileo service Open Service Navigation Message Authentication (OSNMA). Using a real-world setup our institute identified that both methods complement each other very well, giving instantaneous but ambiguous indications from the two antennas and delayed spoofing verification (tag failure) by OSNMA. https://lnkd.in/dx9Mubm2

Iridium Satellite Time and Location (STL) has advantages in working in areas where GPS/GNSS does not, such as occluded environments and indoors. What are the other key similarities (and differences) between STL and GPS? We are so glad you asked. Read our blog: https://bit.ly/44bO83L #STLtechnology #LEOPNT

New Tools for Accessing #GalileoHAS The Galileo high accuracy service (HAS) is a free-of-charge service designed to deliver decimeter-level accuracy in real-time precise point positioning (PPP) applications using global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). In my most recent publication, it is provided tools to enable any GNSS user to obtain PPP results with Galileo HAS corrections. This is conducted by integrating HASLIB and RTKLIB in real time. Check out the paper at: https://lnkd.in/dKV9NVjH The figure below shows that PPP with HAS corrections (red line) with our integration allows us to overcome other exclusively GNSS-based solutions by an order of magnitude. You can reproduce this figure following the tutorial at the supplementary document: https://lnkd.in/dvHtB7ct ย #GNSS #GPS #Galileo #Geodesy Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (FGI)

Iridium recently completed the acquisition of Satelles. While that is exciting, what is more exciting are the differences between STL vs. GPS. STL offers 1. Higher signal strength (works indoor) 2. Resistant to manipulation/spoofing 3. Requires only 1 satellite in view (GPS needs 4).

Maps app not loading? Defence scientist Simona Verga conducted research on a system that could detect, monitor, and issue alerts on disruptions and anomalies in the global navigation satellite system (GNSS).ย ย The GNSS uses satellite data to provide positioning, navigation, and timing services. This study, done in collaboration with Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada, informed what the future of a GNSS alerting system could look like. #WomenInScience #DefenceScience

For more than a decade now, weโve been warned about the vulnerabilities of GNSS and the risks of satellite signal interference, including jamming and spoofing, as well as the general lack of robustness of GNSS-enabled devices to various interferences. According to the founding architect of GPS, Brad Parkinson, GPS signals โ as well as any other GNSS constellation โ are becoming increasingly susceptible to threats such as deliberate signal jamming, or advanced spoofing. With Safran's Skydel Simulation Engine, the future of interference testing is poised to change foreverโand for the better. Skydel is a software-based GNSS Simulation platform that generates the same RF signals as real satellites, empowering test engineers to simulate any scenario and test their GPS receiver device. โก๏ธ Learn more: https://hubs.li/Q02l-T3C0 #Simulation #PNT #Jamming #Spoofing

This is such an awesome effort by my colleagues in the TTP plc Satellite & Space Team - and solving a critical technical problem in the context of the successful use of LEO satellites.
We're launching our innovative intersatellite data relay terminal into space with Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL). This is the first terminal of its kind manufactured in Europe, specifically in the UK - a member of the Five Eyes alliance. The low SWaP-C space-qualified relay enables near real-time data communications for LEO SmallSats, via Viasats global L-band network. This pathfinder mission will see the terminal launched on SSTL's Tyche Earth observation satellite for UK Space Command Persistent satellite connectivity is vital for defence and government operations. Overcoming the limitations of traditional ground stations, our data relay terminal offers constant on-demand ground contact for LEO satellites and provides a continuous link between LEO SmallSats and Earth through geosynchronous satellite relay.
