Totally agree! Diverse teams are proven to perform better because of the wider variety of inputs, approach, and problem solving methods available to the team. Masking is ultimately unhealthy and often counterproductive. However, there’s still social risk involved in unmasking… after all, if you’re a high-masking person, chances are you’ve been doing so for “good reason.” Based on some of my own recent experimentation dropping the mask, I’ll probably be leaving mine on for the foreseeable future. More so for the comfort of others though rather than to gain acceptance… I guess it depends on what you’re masking and why.

Yes, Ellie Middleton is breaking out the megaphones and echoing this from a rooftop somewhere in England! Go ahead Ellie, SAY IT ONE MORE TIME for the organizational decision makers that are still quietly discriminating against me in my job search! Hear me clown world people, the jig is up. The NEW INCLUSION isn't DEI or any of that bullshit, it's when we collectively gain the ability to get over ourselves and actually consider what it's like for others, especially the people that are suffering from conditions or diagnoses that are invisible to the eye. So stop going along with the narrative and virtue signaling along with such, to ensure that you have your social acceptance. Just be your authentic self.

And it definitely means we are seeing things through different lenses which is a brilliant reason to have more neurodiverse people in your team, less blind spots.

Perfect! It’s easy to lose confidence in yourself when others deem your efforts to be wrong or ‘not what they would do’ it’s good to embrace change and try something different and feel confident when thinking outside the box 👏🏻
