Seriously, does anyone have any advice on getting TO a phone interview? I'm seeing so much advice lately on things like looking at past interviews and seeing what you can learn from them or on preparing for interviews. Or there are also posts about keeping your head up because you're at least getting interviews. I'm not. Out of over 100 applications sent since the start of 2024 alone, I've gotten exactly 1 phone screen and around 30-40 rejections. I know that the hot topic is adding quantifiable metrics, but while I actually have some fairly impressive stories, they aren't typically quantifiable. For example, in Epic Systems' software, you can't do something like sorting a list of patients alphabetically by name, grouped by appointment date, despite massive anecdotal consumer demand. And the thing is, it's not even that it would be *difficult* to implement. It'd just be tedious and too time-consuming to be worth it. So when I added the feature to my intern project, I specifically did it in such a way it would be really quick and easy to add to the rest of their software. There just isn't a good way to quantify a reduction from "Too time-consuming to even be worth scoping" to "Literally, most of the work could be done in potential seconds with Ctrl-F". This is my current résumé. Does anyone have *actionable* advice on what I could do to improve it and start getting phone screens again? (And by "actionable", I don't mean "Well have you considered adding numbers?". I mean things like asking questions to help find the "hidden" numbers in stories) Or, if you aren't a recruiter, can you at least share or make a CFBR comment? I only have around 150 connections, which doesn't necessarily help with this sort of thing EDIT: Also, if anyone's interested in the technical details of that story, I added that version in a comment. #resume #recruiting #opentowork #wanttowork #opentoconnect #ruby #java #softwareengineering #jobseeker

In the recent hiring process for few open position at our company, I received an overwhelming response with 70 applications. Surprisingly, ~60% of these applicants seem to be individuals who have unfortunately been laid off. For those applying, here are a few tips to enhance your chances: - Clearly articulate why you are the ideal fit for a role at "abc" company. - Emphasize the value you can bring to both the role and the company. - Showcase how your previous experiences and skill set align with this position. Note: Keep it short & simple (KISS). Putting in this extra effort will undoubtedly be recognized and valued. This will enable the hiring manager also to put an extra effort.

Exciting news: This week, we welcomed our 4th team member. But guess what? It took us only 4 days to hire and get her started. 7 days ago: posted about the role on LI 5 days ago: conducted the interviews 4 days ago: chose the best fit for us 3 days ago: we signed the agreement 2 days ago: she had her first day at work Sure, you should never make rushed decisions. But hiring doesn't have to be a months long process. Once you find a good fit, lock them in. Let's simplify "hiring" once and for all. :)

We just matched one of our founders with their new Chief of Staff in 24 days (from search kickoff → offer!) 😍 We present on-target candidates within 1-2 weeks, and in this case, sourced this founder's Chief of Staff in 10 days 🔥 After that, it was a few interviews over 2 weeks, then offer. It can move that fast if you know what you want and are committed to a process. If you're a hiring manager who's inundated with applications, doesn't know how to screen for CoS candidates, or is getting to the offer stage and things are falling through, I'd welcome a chat to trade notes and share how we can help with your search! :) #chiefofstaff #recruiting
