Throughout this journey, I've encouraged them to deeply consider their purpose and how it can permeate every aspect of their work. Take, for instance, the upcoming Open Studios Day in Shrewsbury. While it may seem like just another art event, its true essence lies in its mission to make art accessible to all and foster a sense of unity within the arts community. By honing in on this purpose, these events attract vital funding and ignite genuine enthusiasm and engagement from participants. Understanding and living one's purpose isn't just a lofty ideal—it's a tangible force that can transform communities and drive meaningful change. (**no awkward angels) Frame that beautiful self. 2. Shift your computer so you are forward lit and NOT back lit. Bad lighting will cost you fundraising dollars. 3. If you have a ring light, use it. You should look great, feel great and shine that confidence into the screen to raise that money. I don't believe I have ever posted here on Linked In before, but this is something near and dear to my heart. Last year I had the unreal privilege to work on a film directed by a filmmaker who's movies were a huge part of my childhood and had a profound influence on the beginning of my love and appreciation for the horror genre and film in general (you could call his films "horror lite" I suppose). Around that same time I joined the board of the Vermont Production Collective because I wanted to make tangible improvements for something I care deeply about here where I live. I want there to be more opportunities, like I had last year, for filmmakers all over the state and for the economy around film to grow and thrive. Vermont has not historically been friendly to film productions. There is no official "film office" or a person to answer the phones for out of state folks wanting to film here. No current database of crew and locations. We have no tax incentives that act as a lure to attract large studios here (which is why they instead would fly their cast to Romania to film a show set in "Vermont") who then spend tens of thousands of indirect dollars to boost up the local economy and businesses in our towns. A big part of what VPC's efforts are focused on is filling that gap. Creating and maintaining that database, ensuring someone is answering the phones. Ensuring that out of state productions can find AND HIRE film industry professionals living in the state. We also have a keen desire to foster and grow our community that is already here. Earlier this week we launched a fundraiser to help bolster our efforts for 2024. Collaborations with local film festivals. Sponsored industry meet ups. Ensuring that the filmmakers and creative industry folks who want to stay here have resources so that they can. This is going to be a big year of transition and growth for film in the state. Working with legislators to lay pathways to create jobs, grow the creative economy and ensure that Vermont has a seat at the table when it comes to the movie making industry. I am truly excited about what the future brings, but like with everything, money is a factor. $1, $10, $100. Literally every dollar earned through this effort matters and makes a difference. Why I chose to fundraise for BMM People from the Black community have different experiences of the mental health system compared to white people. Black people are less satisfied with their experiences of the NHS, Primary care (GP services) and secondary care (hospitals) than the rest of the population. * Unconscious bias among healthcare professionals. Stereotypes within services mean that often treatment is inappropriate and can lead to further harm (e.g - Black people with mental health challenges are aggressive and/or angry) * Stigma around Mental Health within our own community can stop people accessing mental health support. * Cultural and language barriers cause a challenge for accessibility. BMM work hard to match clients to therapists who are able to communicate effectively, including those who speak the same dialects and/or language.

If you're looking for new ways to have engaged employees with stronger productivity, they need to feel like they're a part of something bigger. They need a meaningful experience connecting them to your organization. Instead of a pizza party or another semi useful training session, have your team pick an organization with a cause they're passionate about and rally them around an event. Step 1: Submit or request a list of approved nonprofit orgs/causes that align with the company. Step 2: Have your team select the cause and event they most want to support. Step 3: Sign up and show up.
