Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. It will be our largest campaign and coincides with our ten-year anniversary. In 2014, we had one coach and five kids. In 2014, we'll have 500 coaches and 1,000 kids. By 2028, we want fifty Adventure Teams, but we can't do it alone. We need help. I grew up playing traditional sports. My kids play traditional sports. They're very important for a lot of kids and benefit from tremendous community support and resources. But what about the kids who don't play traditional sports? What team are they on? They're on Adventure Teams. We're not worried about a game or a race; we are looking at what kids need from us to win later in life. We don't have pressure to win now. We don't have the pressure of a clock or roster limitations. It comes down to whether or not we have enough volunteers and money. As I said at the start - we've been doing this for ten years. By next year, we'll be in eleven communities. We were named the 2023 "Change Maker of the Year" and endorsed by the Community Mental Health Association for impacting youth resilience and mental health. We could use your support 👊🏼 https://lnkd.in/dS_xTKSp

Shoutout Wieden Kennedy for using their resources/platform to speak truth into the world and bring awareness to such an important issue - censorship & an outright agenda to erase our history. It’s powerful to be on the frontlines of activist advertising. We need more reputable brands to engage in freedom fighting and civil leadership. To stand up for what is right. WK leading the way as always!! Epitome of a brand led by strong values and principles ✊🏼📈🔥#AdMagicClassOf2023 #AdMagicAlumni
Book bans in American public schools are on the rise, increasing by 33% over the 2022-23 school year compared with the previous year, according to nonprofit PEN America. And diversity, equity and inclusion education is under attack—just last month in Florida, the Board of Governors banned public funding of DEI programs across state universities. A new campaign from agency Wieden Kennedy Kennedy New York and COURAGEOUS CONVERSATION GLOBAL FOUNDATION highlights the dangers of such bans and censorship, particularly to marginalized communities. “America Erased” aims to spark a movement defending students’ freedom to learn about their country’s complete history. https://adweek.it/3T6japE

I designed the annual report for Children's Peace Project! Take a peak😃 https://lnkd.in/ew43GUEZ So grateful for this nonprofit and its dedication to supporting #education in low-resourced areas. CPP has given me the opportunity to continue my late aunt's work in improving education for Haiti's most vulnerable youth while remaining engaged with a community that means so much to me. In the health financing courses I attended while completing my master's in #globalhealth, we often spoke about the poverty cycle, it's connection to education, and it's role in perpetuating poor health and economic outcomes -- both at community/national and individual levels. True to it's circular nature, it can be difficulty to know which factors to target in order to improve conditions. However, there are centuries' worth of evidence that speak to the power of formal education in uplifting the individual and their communities. While chronic mismanagement has and continues to threaten the future of Haiti's youth, CPP provides hope to those who need it the most. Students at our partner school are aiming to be future teachers, health providers, lawyers, agronomists, mechanics. This is what #capacitybuilding looks like, and I can't wait to see what they all accomplish!
Our 2022 Annual Report is in! https://lnkd.in/eDr66t2q Despite the challenges that reached Cap-Haitien last year, Children's Peace Project continued working to support our partner school through school closures. This made the transition back to the classroom easier for students and teachers in January 2023. In early 2022, we provided students with books and notebooks, helped repair the school from flood damage, purchased a school laptop, and started the school's first library! Toward the end of the year, CPP also partnered with Georgetown University's Caribbean Culture Circle and NEST4US to fundraise and gather school supplies for students at our community school. We are grateful to the students from both organisations, our dedicated supporters, and our board members for supporting this important and needed work! Take a look at our 2022 Annual report for more details on our activities in 2022!
