Employees often want to work for organizations that make a difference. When employees feel their work has a meaningful impact, it boosts their motivation and satisfaction. They want to be part of a company that contributes positively to the community, environment, or society as a whole. Today, I had the honor of hosting The Arc Central Chesapeake Region’s Employee Engagement Series Town Hall to highlight the outcomes of this year’s legislative session and how they impact our work at The Arc. When considering legislation, we focus on a couple of key areas: 1. Advocating for Inclusive Policies 2. Creating Opportunities for Participation 3. Fostering a Culture of Acceptance 4. Empowering People Our legislative achievements underscore The Arc's dedication to advocating for the rights, dignity, and inclusion of people with disabilities, and highlight the transformative impact of collaboration, advocacy, and community engagement in creating a more equitable, accessible, and inclusive society for all.

Microaggressions, although seemingly small, have a significant impact on people and the overall workplace culture. These subtle acts of discrimination can create an environment where people feel invalidated, excluded, and undervalued and will prevent a workplace from embracing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where all employees feel like they belong. Recognizing microaggressions requires awareness and education. By understanding the different forms they can take—whether they are verbal or nonverbal—we can begin to dismantle their harmful effects. If you're looking to address microaggressions within your organization and create a safe and inclusive environment, I'm here to support you. Let's collaborate to develop training programs, policies, and practices that promote awareness, empathy, and allyship. Contact me today to get started!
