Powerful video and powerful message
A D-Day vet returns to Omaha Beach, Normandy. The sacrifices our military has historically made for global freedom from oppression are indescribable. Honor those sacrifices today by continuing the fight against evil in any way you can. And we can ALL do something. Find an organization doing work you can get behind, and volunteer some time, some blood, sweat, tears, or dollars. It’s going to take us all to maintain liberty and Justice for all - and that means YOU. Don’t waste a second of your freedom with whining and complaining, get up and DO something about the things that break your heart.

Opportunity of a lifetime.
Last week, Combined Arms CEO Mike Hutchings had the honor and privilege to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery -- symbolizing the beauty and brevity of life. Special thanks to Linwood Ham from Boeing and Vice Chair of Combined Arms Lauren Gore for being dignitaries and participating in this incredible event. Also, thank you to Daniel Smith, MA, and Richard Azzaro for the guided tour and the special look at the Society of the Honor Guard, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (SHGTUS).

I am one of the individuals who felt the impact of General Ogolla's passing, despite not having known him personally. I closely followed his funeral service and was deeply touched by his daughter's speech, from which I drew several valuable lessons: 1. Strive for excellence and let your accomplishments speak for themselves. 2. Cultivate your spiritual side; it serves as your anchor. 3. Embrace humility, as exemplified by General Ogolla, who was described as remarkably modest and unpretentious, embodying leadership without the need for a formal title. Rest in peace, General Ogolla!
The fragility of life - the most underrated fortune is to come back home. Our Chief of Defense Forces General Francis Ogolla and his men perished in an air crash, and these past few days through his life and death we are seeing bare the importance of humility and intentionality. Live as if tomorrow may never come, be kind to those around you, and those entrusted to your care, knowing full well that at the end of it all, there’s only one way and no one is getting out alive.

I wish OSD and the Navy would read these books! All Marines should be pouring over these lessons for ideas how to shape amphibious operations in the 21st Century instead of focusing on only sensing operations in a littoral environment. The Corps should be able to cognitively and physically do both! You don’t always have to attack into the teeth of the enemy. Historically, most amphibious operations attacked a vulnerability and operationally turned a flank, and avoided strength. We focus on the major storm operations of WWII and ignore MacArthur’s brilliant New Guinea campaign. I believe even in the pervasive sensor dominated battlefield of today we can shape any environment, we need to ask the right questions, how do we maneuver from the sea, how do we concentrate for decisive effects. It will be difficult but not impossible.
"Just a year before the successful landings at Inchon, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Omar Bradley famously told the House Armed Services Committee that 'large-scale amphibious operations will never occur again.'" Discounted repeatedly over more than a century as a relic of past wars, amphibious operations have time and again proven their importance in war. Here's why that will remain true in the future.
