I want to have a treehouse (stumphouse?) with a hottub too. Word has it that this is a homeowner and some buddies, but I wasn't there, so I can't say. However, who is doing the work (and the wisdom of the work performed) isn't really the point of this post (well, maybe it is a bit). What is the purpose of the post is the discussion of a topic near and dear to the heart of several of you, including Craig Ihde- AWPs and their use/misuse. I'll not discuss the funky "rigging" used on the hottub (who knows how they managed not to drop it), but instead focus on the fact it is hanging from the work platform part of the AWP. From OSHA's handy "fact sheet" concerning AWPs: - Do not use the aerial lift as a crane. - Do not carry objects larger than the platform. What does the manufacturer say? - Never exceed the maximum platform capacity as specified on the platform. Keep all loads within the confines of the platform, unless authorized by (manufacturer). - Never attempt to use the machine as a crane. Do not tie-off machine to any adjacent structure. Never attach wire, cable, or any similar items to platform. Huh, want to bet these guys, if this is work for pay would get cited if OSHA rolled up on them? #odworkplacesafety #osha #awp #jlg #crane

Behind the scenes: Early morning material and parts run to make sure we have what is needed for the jobs of the day. The job actually starts long before we arrive at the client’s doorstep. Getting the right materials and parts is part of the job. #contractor #contractorlife #remodeler #remodelingcontractor #Davisca #Woodlandca #Kitchens #Bathrooms

Crane accidents are a leading cause of death and injury on construction jobs. Workers may be at risk to being struck by loads or equipment or getting caught in between moving equipment, materials and power lines. #SPSNE #Cranes #Hoisting #ConstructionSafety

The following incident illustrates the importance of taking a step back when the crew composition changes. Workers were erecting scaffolding on a top deck when one scaffolder was called away to work on another task. The worker on the scaffold platform passed down a 10-foot (3 metres) pole to the ground worker. When the ground worker released the pole, it slipped through the gap between the kick plate and the bottom of the east pipe rack. It then fell 30 feet (9 metres), hitting the pipe rack structure and handrail. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e3QDrF38 #riskmanagement #healthandsafety #safety
